Mbappé scores and assists in France’s victory

France beat Iceland in their second 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Parc des Princes. Mbappé starred, scoring his side’s first goal and providing the assist for the second.

Iceland took the lead through Gudjohnsen in the 21st minute, but before the end of the first half, Mbappé made it 1-1 from the penalty spot. With this goal, the striker became his team’s second all-time top scorer with 52 goals, one more than Henry. In the second half, Mbappé was instrumental once again in the 62nd minute when he set up Barcola, who slotted home to make it 2-1. Six minutes later, Tchouameni was sent off, and in stoppage time, Gudjohnsen equalised, but his goal was disallowed at the behest of the VAR. France claimed their second win in a row and top Group D with six points.
