
One of northern England’s most celebrated concert venues opens its doors for a free day of live music and celebration
Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in Hope Street will showcase orchestral performances alongside grassroots music and homegrown talent on Sunday.
The venue said Brad Kella, “Liverpool’s own piano sensation”, is making a special guest appearance alongside a “surprise performance from a local legend to be revealed on the day”.
Organisers said a highlight will be three mini-concerts by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra featuring classical favourites and music from the movies.

Over in grassroots venue the Music Room, back-to-back sets will take place from local artists curated by some of Liverpool’s music organisations.
Vanessa Reed, Chief Executive of Liverpool Philharmonic, said: “It’s the perfect opportunity for anyone who hasn’t yet been to Liverpool Philharmonic to come and see what we’re all about, free of charge.”
Doors open at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall from 11:00 GMT and the Music Room at 12:30.
She added: “We want all of our performances, from star soloists to our world-class orchestra, to feel wide open to everyone.”
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Art Deco Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and hear music performed from its stage.
Included among the planned performances will be two organ recitals by city organist Ian Tracey, a sing-along session with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir and a set from the winner of Channel 4’s The Piano joined by members of Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company.
Over in the Music Room, artists will perform music from across the city and around the globe ranging from Latin American rhythms to stars of Africa Oyé.
