Govt decides to launch fast modern train b/w twin cities

A meeting chaired by Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi  in Islamabad on Monday decided to launch a modern and fast train between Islamabad and Rawalpindi

The meeting also decided to complete the railway project from Margalla Station, Islamabad to Saddar Station, Rawalpindi as soon as possible.

The framework agreement for the project will be finalized and signed next week.

Ministry of Railways will provide the track, while the CDA will manage the train service.

In his remarks on the occasion, Hanif Abbas said the launch of the rail service between the twin cities will be an excellent public welfare initiative. He said it will enable the people to travel between the two cities quickly and easily in around twenty minutes.

Mohsin Naqvi said this project reflects Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of public relief.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said the train service will be a fast and affordable transport solution for the public, and it will also reduce traffic pressure on the roads.
