Light showers lash Karachi areas, monsoon spell forecast in Punjab – Pakistan

Light rain lashed different parts of Karachi on Tuesday morning, turning the weather pleasant.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in Karachi is expected to be partly cloudy and humid during the next 24 hours.

During this period, the maximum temperature in the city is likely to be between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature recorded during the last 24 hours was 27 degrees Celsius.

Drizzle has been reported from various neighbourhoods, including Sharea Faisal, Nursery, and
Tariq Road.

Light rain was also observed in Bahadurabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Saddar, M.A. Jinnah Road, Guru Mandir, and Jamshed Road.

Other areas, including Soldier Bazaar, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and Liaquatabad, also experienced light rain.

Rains in Punjab cities

On the other hand, monsoon rains have been forecast for many areas in Punjab starting today (Tuesday).

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the 11th spell of monsoon rains will continue until September 19.

Rain is expected in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Gujrat, and Sialkot, where an increase in the flow of rivers and streams is likely.

Rain is also expected in Narowal, Hafizabad, Okara, Sahiwal, and Kasur.

The PDMA also warned about the possibility of a glacial lake burst in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Relief Commissioner, commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab have been put on alert, and there is a risk of flooding in major cities due to the rainfall.

The Relief Commissioner advised the public to avoid gathering near rivers and refrain from recreational activities in such areas.
