Miley Cyrus is continuing her “Something Beautiful” era with the announcement that the deluxe edition of her ninth album will be released on Friday.
In a teaser posted to social media, Cyrus revealed that in addition to the standard 13 tracks, the project will feature two new songs: “Secrets” featuring Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood, and “Lockdown” featuring David Byrne.
“Secrets” was previously teased by Billy Ray Cyrus in August, when he posted a snippet of the track and said that she’d written the song as a birthday gift for him. “For my birthday, Miley gave me the gift of music and wrote me a song called Secrets and got my favorite musicians Fleetwood Mac to play on it! I love you Mile ❤️,” he wrote. Just yesterday, Cyrus previewed the song by sharing a clip on socials.
Cyrus initially released “Something Beautiful” in May, with contributions from Kid Harpoon, Michael Pollack, Maxx Morando, Shawn Everett and more. The experimental record was accompanied by a film directed by Cyrus, Brendan Walter and Jacob Bixenman, which debuted in June at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film later released in theaters for one night only. Upon release, “Something Beautiful” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.
To coincide with the album’s release, Cyrus staged a few intimate shows at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont and Maxim’s de Paris. While in France, she popped up as a special guest at Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour for the live debut of their Grammy-winning duet “II Most Wanted.”
