How to Get the Crest of Beast in Hollow Knight: Silksong

In Hollow Knight: Silksong, you can change the way Hornet fights, including altering her down attack, her auto attacks, and even her healing. One of the most game-altering Crests is available pretty early on in the game… if you’re willing to fight one of the most-hated bosses, that is.

The Crest of Beast is located in the Hunter’s March, the ant-filled section just above the Deep Docks. It changes the kit pretty drastically, but perhaps the most altered skill is the healing, which instead turns your attacks into lifesteal, meaning that with proper builds and attacks, you can heal more with it.

To get it, all you need to do is pass through the Hunter’s March section, where, after fighting the wave of ant enemies, you’ll arrive at a large vertical section with a bench at the top. Before you get too excited, make sure that you deactivate the trap that’ll deal two damage to you when you rest on it — there’s a hidden wall to the left that leads to a lever.

Once you’ve secured a safe spawn location (you might need it), you can go to the very bottom-right section of this vertical area, where you’ll find Shakra and a large corridor that leads to the Savage Beastfly’s dungeon. You’ll need to parkour through it, but once you’ve arrived at the boss, just hit the lever to the left before you trigger the fight, which will let you come back with minimal platforming.

Once that’s done, it’s time to fight the Savage Beastfly. This is a pretty tanky boss, but it has three general abilities that have clear tells once you start catching on to them — three horizontal full-body attacks (low, high, low), four vertical slams (with a bit of delay in each, so you can actually get a few hits in), and summoning enemies.

If you’re struggling with the adds that the Savage Beastfly calls, just use its vertical slams to one-shot them — it’s a great way to get them out of the way without having to spend too much time on them! After finishing the fight, you can claim your Crest of Beast in the left section; have fun!
