Shehnaz Sheikh’s solo art show wins praises

LAHORE:

Shehnaz Sheikh, once a celebrated actress of the past, is now carving a prominent place for herself in the world of art, as her solo exhibition, based on a beautiful blend of colours, culture and nature, won the hearts of audiences.

At Ocean Art Gallery, Sheikh’s second solo show displayed 15 valuable artworks. The exhibition, running for four days, presented canvases portraying natural beauty, flowers and birds through diverse mixed colours.

Among the visitors were fabric designers, one of whom said they were inspired by Sheikh’s paintings and hinted at bringing them into fabric design.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh said her works carry no titles, leaving it to the audience to imagine freely. She added that her purpose is to spread happiness and that she has also experimented with mixed colours on paper.

Renowned artist Qaiser Ishrat said Sheikh is a complete artist who created painstaking pieces, reflecting Eastern culture while highlighting the hues of the peacock.

Artist Mehtab Ali noted the finesse and intricacy in her work, pointing out the striking use of blue and the unique compositions of pearls, elephants and horses that convey dreamlike stories. He said Sheikh graduated from NCA in 1977 and that her passion is evident in her art.

Designer Tayaba Asif said Sheikh’s paintings are marked by balanced colours and artistic depth. She praised the beauty of the artworks and expressed her wish to adapt Sheikh’s creations into fabric design.
