The Strad News – Continuo Foundation awards £120k to early music ensembles in tenth round of grants

Continuo Foundation has announced the results of its tenth funding round, distributing a total of £120,000 to 28 period-instrument ensembles. 

The project grants will support concert tours across the UK and recording projects, with a focus on audience development and community engagement. In response to the strong demand and quality in this round, the amount was increased by £20,000 thanks to a generous private donor.

The grantee ensembles of the tenth round of funding are as follows: Cambridge Handel Opera Company, Chelys Consort, Consone Quartet, English Cornett & Sackbut Ensemble, Ensemble Augelletti, Ex Cathedra, Fiori Musicali, Fretwork, The H Ensemble, HGOAntiqua Orchestra, His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts, Londinium Consort, London Early Opera, Manchester Baroque, Musica Antica Rotherhithe, Musica d’Outrora, Newe Vialles, Old Street Band, Oxford Bach Soloists, Parnassus, Passacaglia Trio, Passamezzo, SABI Ensemble, Sestina Music, Spinacino Consort, Spiritato, The Telling and The Vauxhall Band.

Since inception, Continuo Foundation has now awarded more than £1 million to projects spanning 800 years of repertoire, performed on period instruments, bringing live music to audiences of all ages in cities, towns and villages across the UK.
