Sahibzada Farhan Joins Babar, Rizwan in Elite T20 Runs List

Sahibzada Farhan’s career resurgence reached another milestone last night, as the batter joined an elite run-scorers list during his side’s five-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup.

Opening the batting once again, the right-hander scored 24 runs off 15 balls to not only give his team a leg-up in the game, but also helped him join an elite list that includes only Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shan Masood.

Sahibzada Farhan has now become only the fourth batter from Pakistan to score 1,500 T20 runs in a calendar year. He reached the landmark in his 35th innings of 2025, a year in which he has featured for Pakistan, Peshawar Region, and Islamabad United, breaking numerous records along the way. His consistent run-scoring has seen him stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the country’s most prolific short-format batters.

His tally in 2025 stands at 1,502 runs in 35 innings, with a batting average of 45.51 and a strike rate of 156.62. He has also scored six hundreds and nine fifties in those 35 outings, and hit a staggering 90 sixes and 135 fours.

Sahibzada Farhan’s prolific 2025 has also earned him a recall to Pakistan’s national team, where he appears to be a mainstay opener alongside either Fakhar Zaman or Saim Ayub.

The 1,500-runs club now includes Babar Azam, who has crossed the mark in three separate years (2019, 2021, 2024); Rizwan, who managed the feat in back-to-back seasons (2021, 2022); and Shan Masood, who entered the club in 2022.

For Pakistan, Farhan’s emergence as a consistent top-order presence provides much-needed depth in a batting order often reliant on familiar names. His inclusion in the 1,500-run club not only marks personal progress but also hints at a broader shift, with Pakistan now discovering new match-winners ready to take on the toughest challenges.
