Fiesta in Zaragoza with huge comeback; Bourges bounce back in style

MUNICH (Germany) – There was high drama and huge celebrations for Casademont Zaragoza as they completed a remarkable rescue mission against Zabiny Brno on a nail-biting night in the EuroLeague Women Qualifiers.

The Spanish side performed a near-miracle to overturn a 21-point deficit against Zabiny Brno to wrap up their place in the Regular Season

Tango Bourges Basket also successfully bounced back from double-digit arrears from their first leg game and will lineup alongside Zaragoza, with Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring, DVTK HUNTHERM and Umana Reyer Venezia also advancing.

In a game that will be remembered a very long time by the players, coaches, staff and fans of Casademont Zaragoza, they wiped out a 21-point loss in the first leg against Zabiny Brno with a famous 82-59 home win.

Erasing the majority of the deficit heading into the closing moments, the tension was unbearable as Zaragoza ultimately completed their amazing turnaround after having to survive Brno having the last possession of the contest.

Fittingly, it was fan favorite Mariona Ortiz who dragged them through with the last basket and also 26 points and 9 assists. Fellow Spaniard Helena Pueyo weighed in with 17 points, 6 steals and 5 rebounds.

Djaldi Tabdi fuels a big show from Bourges

Having lost 75-64 on the road at Kibirkstis-TOKS, there was a remarkable turnaround from Tango Bourges Basket who delivered a sparkling 89-59 second leg win to turn the tie on its head. Racing out of the blocks, they never looked back after storming into a 32-14 first quarter advantage.

Maeva Djaldi Tabdi was sensational and it was her 17 first-half points and final tally of 26 that provided the foundation for victory. Marie-Paule Foppossi also did the business with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

Reyer do the double over Crvena Zvezda

Umana Reyer Venezia eased out KKZ Crvena Zvezda for a second time as they wrapped up a 70-63 second leg success to follow up their eight-point road win in Belgrade. The Italians had to recover from a shocking opening quarter as they went down in the tie after a 15-2 start by the visitors.

A near double-double of 15 points and 9 rebounds from Steph Mavunga was a highlight, while Mariella Santucci and Ivana Dojkic both found their range and dropped a combined six triples for their team. Khaalia Hillsman did her best to inspire Crvena Zvezda with a powerful 15 points and 13 rebounds.

DVTK leap to Regular Season after locking down Lublin

Some impressive defense and teamwork did the job for DVTK HUNTHERM as they overturned a narrow 3-point deficit to advance past AZS UMCS Lublin with an eye-catching 77-59 home court victory. It was founded on holding their opponents below the magical 60-point landmark was sealed thanks to a couple of headline efforts.

Reka Lelik did some great early work and led the way with 18 points, while Boglarka Takacs netted 15 points. Spanish veteran Laura Gil contributed 15 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for Lublin.

Galatasaray sail past Sepsi for a second time

Already coasting from their mammoth 33-point first leg victory on the road, Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring made easy work of completing another huge win as they brushed aside ACS Sepsi-SIC 86-46 in Istanbul. The visitors had no answer to the quality and depth of their opponents, who still have more players to join their ranks.

Galatasaray could be dangerous in the Regular Season and profited from another strong showing from Awak Kuier who finished with 19 points, 6 boards, 3 steals and 2 blocks, while Derin Erdogan also shone with 17 points.

Meanwhile, the five clubs who lost out on aggregate will now take their place in the EuroCup Women Regular Season.
