GO has launched Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) – commonly referred to as WiFi calling.
This new service complements its existing Voice over LTE (VoLTE) service across its network, making GO the first operator in Malta to offer customers a seamless calling experience that uses their existing Wi-Fi and 4G connections.
With this new capability, you can make and receive voice calls using your phone’s native dialler on any Wi-Fi network in Malta. It keeps you connected even in places where mobile coverage can be hard to reach — including deep indoors or basements — as long as there’s a good Wi-Fi signal. No extra apps are needed, so you’ll never miss an important call, whether you’re at home, in the office, or on the go.
This launch sits at the intersection of technology and customer care. By embedding VoWiFi into the fabric of its network, GO is removing friction for customers who need dependable voice service at home or work, without extra fees or complicated downloads. It is intended to address mobile coverage issues inside the home or office.
The rollout reflects GO’s guiding values — obsess about customers, act as one unified GO Team and act as an owner — and amplifies the company’s broader commitment to bring people closer through reliable digital services.
The service is designed to feel simple and familiar: once a customer enables Wi-Fi Calling on a compatible device, and keeps the phone software up to date, calls placed over Wi-Fi will use the same calling experience and pricing as regular mobile calls. Where devices support VoLTE, active calls can transfer automatically between Wi-Fi and LTE so conversations remain uninterrupted as customers move between indoor and outdoor environments. By making high-quality voice reliable in the places people spend most of their time, GO is extending coverage and improving everyday connectivity for all customers as part of its mission to drive a digital Malta where no one is left behind.
GO has ensured broad device readiness at launch. Apple iPhone – from iPhone 7 onwards, and other devices are already capable of connecting to GO’s VoWiFi service; customers should verify Wi-Fi Calling is enabled in their device settings and apply the latest firmware updates for the best experience. Support for additional popular devices, including Samsung and Google Pixel models, will roll out as manufacturers release their firmware updates. GO encourages customers to keep their devices updated and to consult GO’s support pages for a full device compatibility list and step-by-step instructions on enabling Wi-Fi Calling.
Customers who wish to use the service simply need to enable Wi-Fi Calling in their phone settings and ensure their device software is current; GO’s online support pages and customer service teams are available to guide users through the process and confirm device compatibility. At launch, VoWiFi will be available to customers while they are in Malta, with roaming support to be considered in future phases as network and partner capabilities evolve.
GO invites customers to visit the company’s support pages to learn more about VoWiFi and VoLTE, check device compatibility and follow simple enablement steps. This milestone underlines GO’s continued investment in technology that improves everyday life across Malta and reinforces the company’s purpose to drive a digital Malta where no one is left behind.

Technology should make life simpler and more connected. With VoWiFi and VoLTE we are removing the barriers that sometimes prevent a quick, clear conversation — whether that’s a parent checking in from home, a professional taking an important call in the office, or a senior citizen relying on clear voice connections for safety and comfort. This launch goes beyond network upgrades; it’s about making sure everyone can reach who they need to reach, whenever they need to, with the devices they already own.
Kelvin Camenzuli, Chief Digital Officer at GO plc
Our network team has worked extremely hard to make VoWiFi a native part of the customer experience. We introduced this service so that people don’t have to think about the technology — calls should be clear, seamless and dependable. By combining VoWiFi with VoLTE services we’re delivering quality that keeps conversations going, and we’re doing it without adding cost or complexity for our customers.
