Peaky Blinders Movie The Immortal Man Gets Exciting Release Update

The creator of Peaky Blinders gives fans a major update on the status of the upcoming feature film finale, The Immortal Man.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Steven Knight responded to questions regarding The Immortal Man‘s release date, noting that, while he did not have a definitive date for the film’s release yet, “There’ll be an announcement relatively soon, and I can tell you it’s really, really, really brilliant.” The finale film wrapped production in December 2024.

The hotly anticipated follow-up to Steven Knight’s original Peaky Blinders, which amassed rave reviews and dozens of major industry award nominations over the course of six seasons, The Immortal Man is set to mark the final chapter in the story of Cillian Murphy’s Thomas Shelby.

The Immortal Man will also feature appearances by fellow original Peaky Blinders stars Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck. Among the incoming stars who will be making their franchise debut in The Immortal Man are Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Jay Lycurgo, and Barry Keoghan.

Despite bringing an end to one of the most memorable television sagas of an entire generation, Knight himself has already assured fans that they can expect more Peaky Blinders to come after The Immortal Man, even if they won’t necessarily be seeing the same overarching story play out in future franchise entries.

“The stuff that I’m watching – the rushes, the assemblies – no one will be disappointed. It is quite an incredible thing,” Knight stated during an interview back in February. “It’s a very fitting way to end this part of the Peaky story… I’m not allowed to announce it, but I’m just saying that the world of Peaky will continue.”

Regarding what story The Immortal Man will be telling, Knight has already pointed fans towards something of a slightly more personal nature when it comes to what the film’s leading cast will be facing. “It’s set during 1940, when Birmingham was being carpet-bombed every night by the German Air Force. So, obviously, the stakes are higher. People don’t know if they’re going to live until tomorrow morning,” Knight explained of the film’s setting. “There’s a lot of hedonism, there’s a lot of fatalism, and you’re throwing into that Tommy Shelby who was having his own existential crisis. The stakes are all much higher.”

Knight went on to sing high praises of not just the film in and of itself, but its production, as well. “The budget’s bigger, and let’s be honest, that helps. I would say this, but the cast, I think, is the best British cast that we could possibly have gotten into one place. They are all at the top of their game. I’ve seen rushes and assemblies, and I’m seeing the first cut in a couple of weeks. It is phenomenally good.”

The Immortal Man: A Peaky Blinders Film is set to premiere on Netflix. Until then, fans can enjoy Knight’s latest release, House of Guinness.
