The 499Ps in action in the first free practice sessions at Fuji

The first day of track activities at Fuji International Speedway, venue of the seventh round of the 2025 FIA WEC, saw the 499Ps take part in two free practice sessions. The cars of the official Ferrari – AF Corse team completed 96 and 91 laps respectively with the number 50 crew, consisting of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen, and with the number 51 crew, made up of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi. The number 83 499P of the AF Corse team, entrusted to Ferrari official driver Yifei Ye together with Robert Kubica and Phil Hanson, completed 99 laps.

Free Practice 1. The first session took place in dry track conditions with air and track temperatures of around 29° and 44°C, respectively. All the Ferraris carried out the planned work useful for setting up the cars. The fastest 499P proved to be the number 83 in Giallo Modena livery – which completed 51 laps – ninth in the standings, with a best lap of 1’31’’356, 1’’204 behind the number 94 Peugeot, leader of the session.

The number 50 499P finished tenth with a best lap time of 1’31’’530 (+1’’378), having completed 45 laps, while the “sister” car of the Ferrari – AF Corse team classified 13th thanks to a best lap of 1’31’’650, set on the eighth of its 50 laps.

Free Practice 2. In weather conditions similar to those in the morning, with slightly lower temperatures of around 25° and 35°C, the second session saw the Ferrari – AF Corse cars secure eighth and 16th place with the number 50 crew (best lap 1’30’’081, 0’’586 off the number 93 Peugeot, leader of the session) and the number 51 crew (1’30’’559). At the end of the 90 minutes, the number 83 499P had classified 12th in the standings with a best lap of 1’30’’277.

The programme. On Saturday, 27 September, Free Practice 3 will be contested from 9.50 to 10.50 a.m., the Hypercar Qualifying from 3 p.m. to 3.12 p.m., followed by the Hyperpole from 3.20 to 3.30 p.m. The race will kick off on Sunday, 28 September at 11 a.m. (all times are local).
