The Ferrari – AF Corse 499Ps will line up sixth and 15th on the starting grid for the Fuji 6 Hours, the seventh round of the FIA WEC 2025, thanks to the results achieved in qualifying by Antonio Giovinazzi, in the number 51 car, and Antonio Fuoco, in the number 50.
The number 83 499P of AF Corse, entrusted today in the timed sessions to Robert Kubica, will kick off the penultimate round of the World Endurance Championship from 10th place.
The race will get underway on Sunday, 28 September at 11 a.m. local time.
Qualifying. In the first timed session – with the track dry and air and asphalt temperatures at 24°C and 31°C respectively – Giovinazzi took the cockpit of the 499P, which he shares in the race with Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado, setting a best lap time of 1’29”300. This placed him seventh, 0”365 adrift of the head of the standings.
Fuoco – in the crew with Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen – was entrusted with the sister number 50 car: he clocked 1’29”506 for 15th place, which did not allow him to advance to the next session, at the end of a run also affected by traffic on the track.
Kubica, who together with official Ferrari driver Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson forms the crew entered by the AF Corse team, set a best time of 1’29″330 in the car with Giallo Modena livery, finishing eighth.
Hyperpole. In the decisive phase, held in similar weather conditions and dedicated to the top ten cars, Giovinazzi managed to improve, conquering the third row thanks to a time of 1’28″945, 0″709 off the pole position obtained by the number 12 Cadillac.
Fifth row meanwhile for the AF Corse car, which completed a lap of Fuji in 1’29″245 with a gap of +1″009.
