After spending years in dormancy, the Silent Hill series has come out guns blazing with a title that is by multiple metrics, a winner. Gamers still on the fence can check it out themselves by getting the latest entry in the franchise, Silent Hill f, for a deep discount thanks to UK-based online video game retailer Fanatical.
October is right around the corner, but you don’t have to wait for Halloween season to get Silent Hill f as the game is available for $52.49 at Fanatical. That’s an impressive 25% off on MSRP for a title that just launched for $69.99
Silent Hill f delivers on the psychological horror of the original franchise as it explores the fictional town of Ebisugaoka in Japan. The game is available at a respectable discount, considering it just launched on September 25, 2025, for the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X.
The game has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with 83% positive reviews out of the total 5,492 reviews. The game has a top critic average of 87 on OpenCritic and 86/100 on Metacritic out of the total 79 critic reviews. Famitsu gave Silent Hill f a score of 36/40, with each of the four reviewers giving the game a 9/10, making it the highest-rated game in the series.
While the game tops off at 10–12 hours of playtime per playthrough, Silent Hill f offers five distinct endings, making for great replayability for those insistent on digging deeper. Players are locked into one ending in the first playthrough, and only after playing the game two or three times, players begin to grasp the story and events surrounding the protagonist Hinako and her hometown.
The only gripe with the game thus far is that some users feel Silent Hill f’s combat feels a bit clunky and detached from the game’s horror experience. On the other end of the spectrum, Silent Hill f’s PS5 port has been a hot topic for its 360p–720p internal resolution, upscaled to 1800p on the base PS5’s performance mode, and 720p upscaled to 2160p, capped at 30FPS on Quality mode and 60FPS on the PS5 Pro.
Despite the game’s usage of Unreal Engine 5, which comes with its performance considerations in tow, Silent Hill f’s PC port runs at a respectable native 1080p at 60FPS on the entry-level Nvidia RTX 4060 on maximum settings.
It is important to note that the game also leverages Unreal Engine 5’s Lumen lighting implementation, which is a software-based Ray Tracing algorithm. This can, however, be turned off to yield better performance on older GPUs that may struggle to handle it at a respectable frame rate.
