Weekly poll results: Sony fans love the Xperia 10 VII

Sony makes phones like no other company on the market, but Sony fans are one of a kind too – they came out in force in last week’s poll and showed strong support for the Sony Xperia 10 VII.

The new mid-ranger changes things up while staying true to the Xperia spirit. The perfectly rectangular display, the 3.5mm headphone jack and the microSD slot are must-haves for some and they also happen to be things you can’t get anywhere else. Not in this segment, anyway.

There were some concerns about the price. Still, the vote went 5:1 in favor of “I want one” vs. “no, not at this price”. The Xperia 10 VII is certainly on the pricey side, then again, this is typical for Sony products.

Interestingly, we expected to see more criticism about the hardware. And indeed there was some, just not as much as we thought. People wished for a Snapdragon 7 series chipset instead of the 6 Gen 3. Some lamented the loss of the dedicated telephoto lens, last seen on the Xperia 10 V. Others wished that the USB 3 port with video out would return – that was an option on the Xperia 10 III, if you remember that one.

We guess most people not happy with the hardware voted in favor of other mid-rangers – you can certainly get a much faster chipset in this price range, bigger battery too. But good luck finding one that has expandable storage and doesn’t need a dongle for your favorite set of wired headphones.

The poll clearly shows that there is a dedicated fanbase that is quite happy with the direction that Sony took with the Xperia 10 line. And there were even some fans of the flagship Xperia 1 VII that showed up. Now if only Sony would put in the effort to sell these two in more markets.
