TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) announces that TDK’s prototype of an analog reservoir AI chip won the Innovation Award at CEATEC 2025.
The CEATEC AWARD 2025 is presented to outstanding exhibited products, technologies, and services with particularly high innovation at CEATEC, where cutting-edge technologies from Japan and abroad gather. Among these, the Innovation Award recognizes new technologies and solutions that contribute to the sustainable maintenance and development of industry, business, society, and daily life, and that possess advanced features, concreteness, and social contribution in line with the realization of Society 5.0.
TDK’s demonstration device combines the real-time learning function of the edge-oriented analog reservoir AI chip (jointly developed with Hokkaido University) with TDK’s acceleration sensor. This enables high-speed processing of time varying, time-series data and tasks with low power consumption.
The CEATEC AWARD 2025 judging committee granted the award to TDK’s prototype of an analog reservoir AI chip based on its evaluation that, as AI utilization advances and global power demand and communication latency become challenges, there is a need for low-power, low-latency AI not only in the cloud but also at the edge, and reservoir AI is expected to lead to new innovations in the future.
TDK will further advance research on reservoir computing in collaboration with Hokkaido University and will contribute to the development of the “AI ecosystem market” by collaborating with our Sensor Systems Business Company and TDK SensEI, which develops sensor solutions business in the edge area.
