Light rain cools Lahore, power outages hit several areas

Light rain in Lahore and its surrounding areas early Monday morning brought a pleasant change in weather as the second spell of monsoon showers continued across the country.

The rain, while offering much-needed respite from the heat, also led to disruptions in electricity supply. Several feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripped, resulting in power outages in multiple localities.

Areas that received rainfall included Defence, Ghazi Road, Ferozepur Road, Walton, Mall Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Gulshan Ravi, Jail Road, Gulberg, Garden Town, Kalma Chowk, and Sanda, among others.

Rainfall was also reported in other parts of the country including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Bahawalnagar, Manchanabad, Murree, Rajanpur, Peshawar, Khyber, and Malakand.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the current monsoon spell is expected to persist until Thursday.
