2025 USA Gymnastics U.S. Classic preview, schedule, how to watch

Three members of the U.S. Olympic women’s gymnastics team for Paris 2024 are set to compete at Saturday’s (19 July) U.S. Classic at Hoffman Estates, Illinois’ NOW Arena.

The event is the final qualifier for August’s U.S. Gymnastics Championships, set for New Orleans.

Olympic team champion Hezly Rivera, along with replacement athletes Joscelyn Roberson and Leanne Wong, highlight the field that will give gymnastics fans a first look at the next generation of talent for a U.S. squad that has captured three of the last four Olympic team titles.

Rivera had a slow start to her 2025 season, competing only on balance beam at February’s Winter Cup event, but impressed at June’s Pan American Championships where – despite errors – she claimed all-around bronze, in addition to team gold and balance beam bronze.

In the team event there, Rivera posted a 54.766 – the 11th-best all-around total in the world thus far in 2025, according to TheGymter.net.

For Roberson and Wong, it will be their first elite competitions since last summer’s U.S. Olympic Trials. Both women competed in the 2025 NCAA women’s gymnastics season, with Roberson a member of the University of Arkansas squad, while Wong competes for the University of Florida.

Two newcomers will likely challenge for the top spot in the all-around: Jayla Hang and Ashlee Sullivan.

Hang’s impressive 2025 season includes gold medals at the Antalya and Osijek World Cups, and the all-around win at the Pan Am Championships. Her 55.666 all-around score is the sixth-highest globally this season.

Sullivan’s 2025 highlight came at the DTB Mixed Cup where she scored 54.550 – 13th-best globally. She is also the 2025 Winter Cup all-around winner and finished third in the all-around at the Jesolo Trophy competition.

Other athletes to keep an eye on in Chicagoland include Olympic Trials qualifiers Simone Rose and Dulcy Caylor, and 2024 junior U.S. champion Claire Pease.
