ISLAMABAD – Huawei phones have loyal consumers who rely on hardware quality in Pakistan. While not fully seamless for every user, especially after restrictions from Google, the company still provides a robust phone experience. Until recently, as Huawei Technologies Pakistan has been facing hard time over some legal requirements.
A report shared by local publication said the tech giant got Class Value-Added Services (CVAS) license back some eight year back to set up and operate telecom systems in South Asian nation, but the company has yet to secure a mandatory commencement certificate, which according to officials, is basic document needed before offering any telecom services or charging clients.
It said the Chinese company received multiple official reminders in last two years, and even formal hearing in February, but the company still failed to start the process.
The company ignored the stern rules and regulations, as PTA finally issued an enforcement order on July 11, suspending Huawei’s license for one month or until missing certificate is submitted. If company fails to act within this window, it faces permanent termination of License No. DIR(L)/CVAS-877/PTA/2017, with no further warning.
The telecom authority directed all major operators to stop providing services to Huawei under the suspended license.
Huawei Technologies Pakistan is yet to respond to these development till the filing of this report.
