Suno’s latest update lets users add vocals and instrumentals

AI music startup Suno launched v4.5 of its model – “our newest and most expressive” – in May this year. Now there’s an update to the update: v4.5+ dropped this week.

It continues the trend for Suno to add more features geared towards human musicians, rather than just users who want to press a button and have a song pop out.

New features include the ability to add vocals to tracks, and also to upload voice recordings and vocal stems before adding in Suno-made instrumentals.

“We’re introducing new workflows that change how music gets made. This isn’t a minor upgrade; it’s a glimpse of the future: more people making more music, with better tools, in more intuitive ways,” said CEO Mikey Shulman.

The news follows Suno’s acquisition of browser-based DAW WavTool and its appointment of music-industry veteran Paul Sinclair as its chief music officer. However, the company is still facing copyright infringement lawsuits from major labels and German collecting society GEMA.
