PM Shehbaz, Nawaz discuss political affairs in Murree huddle

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met PML-N President Nawaz Sharif in Murree on Sunday to discuss the overall political situation in the country.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also participated in the key meeting of the Sharif family.

According to sources, PM Shehbaz briefed Nawaz Sharif about his recent meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari, covering discussions on a proposed constitutional amendment bill and the potential nomination for the new Chief Election Commissioner.

He also informed Nawaz Sharif about PPP’s reservations regarding certain clauses of the constitutional package.

The Prime Minister further updated Nawaz Sharif on his meetings with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, aimed at maintaining coordination within the federal government and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz briefed the party leadership on flood damages in the province, law and order measures, and efforts to tackle inflation.

Nawaz Sharif stressed the importance of keeping coalition partners engaged and considering their input in political, administrative, and constitutional matters. He also called for a detailed survey to assess losses faced by flood-affected communities and ensure their proper compensation.

Both leaders commended the armed forces for their ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
