The best F3 moments from Spa-Francorchamps

It’s finally race week once again and we are gearing up for a return to the famed Spa-Francorchamps circuit for Round 8 of the 2025 season.

The track has provided us with some of the most exciting moments in Championship battles past, and we are likely to see the same this year too, with Rafael Câmara still fending off the chasing pack.

Here are some of the big moments so far in F3 around the famous circuit to whet the appetite.

VOISIN TAKES MAIDEN F3 WIN

Voisin’s maiden F3 win came at Spa last season with Rodin Motorsport

He’d crossed the line first at his home event earlier in the year only to lose victory to a post-race penalty, so when Callum Voisin hoisted the first-place trophy aloft at Spa later in 2024, he banished those memories.

The Rodin Motorsport driver had taken a brilliant maiden F3 pole two days prior, setting the fastest lap in Friday’s Qualifying session.

It marked the start of his most impressive weekend of the season, as he looked to be in total control on Sunday in the Feature Race, leading the pack from lights out.

He managed several Safety Car restarts with little issue, only a minor lock-up in the early stages letting Sebastián Montoya into overtaking range, but the Colombian was quickly rebuffed by the race leader.

Voisin’s victory was the team’s first in FIA F3 and marked the culmination of months of work that had put the team trajectory for the top step.

This season, the outfit started 2025 strongly and have enjoyed positive results since but have not taken another win yet.

Will that change as they return to the scene of win number one?

JENZER’S DAY OF DAYS

2023’s edition brought a hugely tricky challenge for teams and drivers alike, but it was Jenzer Motorsport that capitalised best on the conditions to earn a memorable 1-3 finish.

The Swiss team went from 10th, 18th and 22nd on the grid, but pre-race rain meant everyone had a big decision to make ahead of lights out.

With the track still greasy but drizzle in the air, Jenzer opted to fit the Wet tyres, with Taylor Barnard in 10th the highest-placed driver to opt for the blue-walled tyres over Slicks.

Paul Aron also chose Wet tyres at the start, and he was able to overtake Barnard in the early stages as those on dry tyres fell backwards down the order.

An early Safety Car changed the complexion of the race once again, as PREMA Racing opted to fit Aron with dries, promoting Barnard into the lead, but the track very slowly drying out.

The Briton then managed the gap for the remaining laps, able to resist late pressure from a charging Christian Mansell as the pair diced for P1 along the Kemmel Straight multiple times.

It marked the Swiss team’s first win since 2019 in F3 and their final one in the Championship, on what was a truly memorable day.

MALONEY REPAYS TRIDENT WITH VICTORY

After his sizeable crash on Saturday, Maloney repaid TRIDENT with victory on Sunday

The 2022 season was coming to a close and it looked like Isack Hadjar and Victor Martins were locked in a one-on-one battle for the Drivers’ title.

However, Round 7 of that year brought another twist in the story, and added an extra layer of intrigue heading into the final two races that season.

After a high-speed crash in the Sprint Race at Blanchimont, TRIDENT had a major rebuild job on their hands after a Red Flag following a crash for Zane Maloney and Oliver Goethe.

An extensive overnight rebuild got Maloney onto the grid for Sunday’s Feature Race, and he did not disappoint.

Having qualified second, he battled away with Caio Collet for the lead of the race, and after several earlier fights, the TRIDENT driver eventually found a route through along the Kemmel Straight and into Les Combes for the lead.

From there, Maloney would not be denied as he secured what had seemed an improbable win 24 hours earlier.

It kicked off the Bajan driver’s incredible trio of consecutive Feature Race victories that launched him into title contention. He ultimately missed out by the slenderest of margins in a gripping Monza Feature Race to Victor Martins.
