Better late than never is how best to describe the Galaxy A56 5G which has arrived in the US four months after it was released in other regions. The Android smartphone is now available to buy from Samsung and Amazon, albeit with no offers to tempt buyers.

Last month it was reported that the Galaxy A56 5G would eventually get a US release. That report turned out to be true as the smartphone is now available to buy directly from Samsung and retail partner stores.

The Galaxy A56 5G’s arrival in the US is a big deal considering last year’s Galaxy A55 5G didn’t get a US launch. It was believed that the case will remain unchanged with the Galaxy A56 too considering the phone has been available in other regions since March.

Surprisingly, Samsung isn’t offering any perks when you purchase the Galaxy A56 from its store save for a 40% discount on the Galaxy Buds FE. Nevertheless, the phone is available in two configurations — a 128GB version that costs $499.99 and a 256GB version that costs $549.99. The two storage options have 8GB of RAM.

In addition, Samsung has the phone in two colors — Lightgray and Graphite — even though it was announced in four colors. The Galaxy A56 5G is also available to buy from Amazon at the same price Samsung is selling it. However, you get the choice of three colors as the e-commerce giant also has the Galaxy A56 5G in Olive.

Samsung’s new premium mid-range phone will be facing stiff competition in its price bracket with options such as the Pixel 9a which also starts at $499.99 for the base model with 128GB of storage and goes up to $599 for the 256GB version. There’s also the OnePlus 13R which is currently discounted to $532.89 on Amazon (originally $599.99) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB version.

Nevertheless, there’s a lot to like about the Galaxy A56 5G. It has a premium build thanks to having Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both sides, an aluminum frame, and an IP67 dust and water resistance rating. In our review, we praised the improved selfie camera, performance and battery life which are significantly better than those of its predecessor.

Samsung has also promised that the Galaxy A56 5G will receive 6 OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates, bested only by the Pixel 9a (in its class) which will receive 7 years of OS and security updates.
