Benjamin Fredrick joins FCV Dender on loan | Brentford FC

Brentford B defender Benjamin Fredrick has made the switch to Belgian Pro League side FCV Dender on a season-long loan for the 2025/26 campaign, subject to FA and Premier League approval as well as international clearance.

A standout performer for the young Bees across his time at the club, the 20-year-old played a pivotal role in a successful 2024/25 season.

Fredrick signed for the west Londoners from Nigerian side Simoiben FC in the summer of 2023, initially on loan before his move was made permanent in April 2024.

He ended the 2024/25 season as Brentford B’s Players’ Player of the season following fine displays which saw the Bees lift the U21 Professional Development League title and get to the Premier League Cup final.

The defender rounded off an impressive year by making his senior international debut for Nigeria in the 2025 Unity Cup final against Jamaica as the Super Eagles won the trophy following a penalty shoot-out.

Fredrick featured 29 times in all competitions for the B team during the 2024/25 campaign, making an impressive 131 interceptions across the season.

Speaking on the loan move, newly appointed Brentford B head coach Sam Saunders said: “Since joining us, Benjamin has gone from strength to strength and developed into a confident, intelligent, and powerful defender.

“He’s quick, strong in one-v-one situations, and dominant in the air.

“On top of that, he’s a humble, hard-working individual who applies himself every day and shows real leadership qualities on and off the pitch. We’re excited to see how he continues to progress.”

Dender finished 12th last season with eight wins, eight draws and 14 losses.
