More details about Huawei’s next tri-fold smartphone leak, and it won’t be called Mate XT 2

Huawei launched the Mate XT, the first tri-fold smartphone in the world, last September, and we’re now only a few weeks away from its one-year anniversary.

To mark that occasion, Huawei is rumored to launch a new and improved tri-fold smartphone, that we initially assumed would be called Mate XT 2. Today a new rumor from China claims it will be Mate XTs instead, and that is perhaps more fitting considering that it won’t be an entirely reworked device.

It’s said to come with improved performance from a new chipset, improved cameras, and new colorways. And that’s it, everything else will stay identical to the original. Speaking of which, Huawei has allegedly sold more than 500,000 units of the Mate XT since its launch in China, despite its very prohibitive price.

The Mate XTs will be offered in white, black, red, and purple, twice as many options as its predecessor had. It is now alleged to arrive in September.
