Evans storms to sensational pole for Jaguar in London

Mitch Evans pounced to the Julius Baer Pole Position in London, as the Jaguar TCS Racing driver gave the team’s home fans something to celebrate. Fresh from double victories in Berlin, Jaguar will be hoping that momentum continues across the final two races this season.

RESULTS: Qualifying for the 2025 Marvel Fantastic Four London E-Prix.

Evans was on pole for the first race in London last year, and this is the third pole for the team this season, but the first time that both driver and team will receive the three bonus points as the previous poles were achieved when the Duel stages were cancelled in Shanghai and Berlin.

It was a close duel between Evans and the Mahindra Racing of Nyck de Vries, who will start alongside Evans on the front row, with several big names out early on. As they fight for the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ trophies, Nissan’s Oliver Rowland starts 12th and Norman Nato 16th. NEOM McLaren’s Taylor Barnard is 14th, as he fights TAG Heuer Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein for second in the drivers’ title, with the reigning champion in third.

Final

It was Evans against de Vries in the fight for pole, and it was Mitch Evans who did the job to take the additional three points ahead of this afternoon’s race. It makes five consecutive Jaguar-powered poles here in London, and is still the first first front row start for Mahindra Racing in any London E-Prix, either in Battersea or ExCel.

Semis

The first of the semi final battles was Dan Ticktum and Nyck de Vries, with the Mahindra driver beating the CUPRA KIRO driver to the final by just 0.009s. Mahindra have never taken a front row start in the 12 previous London E-Prix races, which has now changed.

Next was Wehrlein and Evans, who are the two drivers with the most career semi final appearances in the Duels. Evans was chasing a fourth consecutive top three start in London, and pulled it out the bag to manage that.

Quarter Final

First up was Guenther versus de Vries, with both drivers making their seventh duel appearance in 12 opportunities this season. Guenther started on the front row here last year, but history didn’t repeat itself as it was de Vries who beat him to the semis.

It was then the turn of Cassidy and Ticktum, with the CUPRA KIRO driver having a boost from the home crowd to proceed to the next round. Cassidy was chasing a fourth pole in the last five London ExCeL races, but it wasn’t to be this time as Ticktum got the better lap of the ExCel.

Evans and Jake Hughes (Maserati MSG Racing) were next, with this being the first time this season that both Jaguars have appeared in the Duel stages. Evans has not got beyond the QFs this season, but his luck changed in London as he soared into the semis at the team’s home race.

Last up was a matchup of previous Formula E champions, with Vandoorne in from Season 8 and Wehrlein from Season 10. Only one could emerge ahead, and it was Wehrlien who remained undefeated in the Duels this year, apart from in Monaco by Taylor Barnard.

Group A

Nick Cassidy was the top of the first group, fresh from his race win in Berlin. It’s a big weekend for him and the team, as their home race and the final weekend where both Cassidy and team principal James Barclay are at the team. He was joined in the Duels by Maximilian Guenther, in addition to de Vries and Ticktum.

It was a big shock for Nissan power, with both factory drivers in Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato knocked out in addition to Taylor Barnard and Sam Bird of NEOM McLaren.

Group B

Pascal Wehrlein was best of the rest in the second group, looking for his second consecutive pole after doing the business in Berlin. Mitch Evans was second, with both Maserati MSG Racing’s through to the Duels.

Edoardo Mortara just missed out on the chance to join his teammate in the Duels.
