CM Maryam vows public-centric approach in Model Villages transformation across Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reiterated that the development priorities for the Model Villages Project will be aligned with the needs of the people.

Presiding over a special meeting, CM Maryam was briefed on three major initiatives: the Model Villages Project, the Clean Punjab campaign, and the Waste-to-Value programme. She directed authorities to set a firm deadline for the timely execution of the Model Villages initiative.

The meeting reviewed progress on the ambitious plan to upgrade 1,200 villages into fully equipped model settlements. Key features of each model village will include a 24/7 water supply, a comprehensive sewage system, and a dedicated waste management facility.

Additional planned amenities include paved streets, improved roads, children’s play areas, extensive tree plantation, house numbering, and signage installation throughout the villages.

Officials also presented solar-powered solutions for water supply and sewage systems, with development in 130 villages already completed during the pilot phase.

CM Maryam emphasized that the initiative will be driven by public priorities, with a commitment to ensuring holistic and sustainable development in every village under the scheme.
