Finally, the long wait is over as EA has recently revealed Battlefield 6 with a trailer. However, it was not a big surprise to the fans as the company has been very poor in keeping the development of this game a secret. Also the introduction of Battlefield Labs in early 2025 sealed the title’s existence way before its actual release. The upcoming title is going to be a turning point for Battlefield. After the disastrous performance of Battlefield 2042, EA is leaving no stones unturned to change the fate of this long-standing franchise. However, has EA made a mistake by leaving the last-gen consoles behind?

The recently launched reveal trailer of Battlefield 6 unfolded many mysteries, which will be disclosed in detail when the game gets released. Looking at the trailer, any one can adjudge that the upcoming title is going to be the most graphically fidelious installment of the series, with the glimpse of bright daylight urban warfare against nighttime destructions, a collapsed dam, burning city streets, and much more to add on.Now despite revealing so much, EA hasn’t yet put the confirmation stamp on the potential platforms of the game. However, insiders and leakers have claimed that Battlefield 6 is going to launch only on modern-gen consoles, that means on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. These claims also get some huge base as EA’s Battlefield Lab testing was limited to current-gen hardware only. Also, the official reveal and wishlist page only show listings exclusively for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.With all of these, we can come to a conclusion that Battlefield 6 is likely to miss out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And this decision is going to hit the upcoming title hard. First up, Battlefield’s long-standing dream of Call of Duty would have been completed, keeping in mind the promises BF6 is shown. But CoD never left older-gen consoles like PS4 and Xbox One behind, even for the most recent titles like Black Ops 6 and Modern Warfare 3. And none of these titles have ever compromised on visual qualities as well. Secondly, last-gen consoles still hold a substantial amount of playerbase, which would have boosted Battlefield 6’s opening sales to a huge level. But the upcoming title is going to miss out on that as it will probably rely on modern gen consoles only. Yeah it’s true that it would have been really tough for the developers to stick in so much graphical brilliance in older-gen consoles having inferior specifications. The majority of the gaming development companies have already followed this path as well. But for Battlefield 6, it is going to be its first, as even Battlefield 2042 was available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.Now it seems EA’s proposed goal of having 100 million Battlefield 6 players is far from reach, if the company sticks to modern-gen consoles only.Read More: Battlefield 6 potential release date gets leaked
