Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans continued his strong run of form in London, going quickest for Free Practice 3 ahead of Round 16 later this afternoon. After achieving the Julius Baer Pole Position yesterday, Evans will hope to bounce back from a disappointing race impacted by strategy to win again for the British team.
Evans’ final lap was a 1m06.984s, making him the only driver to hit that milestone all weekend. He was closely followed by Pascal Wehrlein of TAG Heuer Porsche, with Stoffel Vandoorne third for Maserati MSG Racing. Dan Ticktum was fourth, after having his final attempt impacted by Mahindra Racing’s Nyck de Vries, with Norman Nato completing the top five for Nissan.
As it happened…
The final practice session of the year started at 10:00 local time, with dry conditions. Almost all cars headed out to get some important running apart from the Maserati MSG Racing of Jake Hughes, who had electrical issues with his car despite it starting up perfectly fine this morning. It was another blow for the Brit, who was involved in a clash on the first lap of yesterday’s race which took him out of the race.
His teammate Stoffel Vandoorne also had a moment 10 minutes into the session, heading into the run off at Turn 1 and gently tapping the barrier but was able to continue with the rest of practice.
De Vries had a moment during one of his flying laps, launching his Mahindra over the kerbing, but was able to stay away from any walls.
With 10 minutes to go, Dan Ticktum launched himself and his CUPRA KIRO into the top spot but soon qualifying simulations were starting and Evans put himself top. No sooner had he gone quickest, Pascal Wehrlein set the best time of the weekend so far with a 1m07.045s but Evans tried again and became the only driver of the weekend to reach the 1m06s.

There was also drama in the final moments as Lucas di Grassi (Lola Yamaha ABT) hit the rear of Maximilian Guenther on a lap, and Nyck de Vries rejoined the track in a strange manner which impacted the final lap of Ticktum.
