Valve has introduced a refreshed Steam store menu and enhanced search bar for users on the Steam Client Beta for desktops. The update aims to streamline navigation and improve access to frequently visited pages on the platform.
Announced on July 26 2025, the new store layout removes the traditional left-hand sidebar. Instead, a centralised top navigation bar now provides quicker access across more pages within the store.
The redesigned menu also adapts dynamically, disappearing when scrolling down and reappearing upon scrolling back up.
In addition to the layout update, Valve has made significant improvements to the search functionality. The updated search bar now features new enhancements designed to help users find content more efficiently.
These features include a list of popular searches, recently viewed items, and support for broader queries such as categories, tags, and publishers.
An “Advanced Search” option is now more accessible, offering a variety of filters for users looking to refine their game searches.
The update also brings expanded personalised recommendations based on user behaviour, including tailored categories and tags.
According to Valve, the changes are part of a wider effort to enhance user experience across the Steam platform.
While currently available only to users of the Steam Client Beta on desktop, these features may be rolled out to the full client in future updates, depending on feedback.
Valve encourages users testing the beta to share their experiences and provide feedback on the changes.
