Always on the lookout for an opportunity to assert its status as a rebellious watch industry maverick, Cvstos has teamed up with Barajas, an artisanal tequila house founded almost 30 years ago in Mexico. This award-winning beverage is now available in bottles that are works of art with each one taking ten days, eight artisans and seven hours of micro-painting to bring to life as a unique piece. Cvstos drew inspiration from this for an ultra-limited 30 piece edition of its Challenge Jetliner, soberly named ‘Tequila Barajas’. The base remains that of the collection, with two central hands, a small helical seconds-hand, a date and the magnificent brand-signature suspended hour markers.
Meanwhile, the exterior exudes a Mexican vibe: the rear mainplate and seconds counter are engraved with a floral motif inspired by the world of Barajas, while the 12 o’clock logo and steel case are attired in the trademark blue of the company run by Maestro Tequilero Gerardo Barajas. As lavish as a Mexican banquet, the 53.7 x 41mm steel and red gold 5N case can be worn on an alcantara, leather or rubber strap. This atypical timepiece is a fine cultural tribute to Mexico’s rich traditions.
