Guilty Gear Strive adds Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Netrunner Lucy in August

Lucy’s arrival will be accompanied by a new Ranked Match online mode.

It’s a busy Sunday finals day at EVO 2025 with more games wrapping up on the last day than ever. Kicking off the action on the main stage was Guilty Gear Strive. While the game has been outstanding to this point, fans have been waiting more than a year for one of its most anticipated guest characters. During Sunday’s Top 8, fans finally got to see more of Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and were also given an official release date.

Lucy is one of the main characters of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime set in the world of CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077. She has survived in Edgerunners’ harsh world as a Netrunner, raised to be one of the best after being raised as an orphan in an Arasaka facility. She brings her skill set to Guilty Gear Strive, utilizing lashes and tethers to wear down her opponents.

It has been a long time since Arc System Works first announced Lucy for Guilty Gear Strive. In fact, she was originally announced at last year’s EVO as part of a Season 4 roster that also included Queen Dizzy and Venom. However, Guilty Gear Strive isn’t stopping with Lucy’s release. A Season Pass 5 has been confirmed and will kick off in 2026 alongside a major Game Version 2.0 update. More details on all of that are expected at a later date.

Lucy will come to Guilty Gear Strive on Thursday, August 21. A Ranked Match online mode will also be deployed on that same date alongside a new balance patch.

Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can’t enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
