Ruben was asked about some comments from Bruno Fernandes, who opened the scoring from the penalty spot, with the skipper suggesting the squad could be strengthened by more recruitment and admitting the players need to show on the pitch that all the sacrifices made at the club are paid back by the performances.
“Of course, one team can always improve with more players,” replied the head coach. “But we have players to make that competition. We need to improve as a team. We have potential to improve with our players. I’m really happy with the squad.
“I think I’m happy for the players to have that feeling. It’s a sign that they understand the situation. It is a good feeling. We are going to travel, have one day off and return to Carrington to work understanding, at this club, everything is big ups and downs.”
