Bayern Munich duo Harry Kane and Michael Olise, as well Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy, have been nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or award.
Kane followed up his 2023/24 Bundesliga Golden Boot with another one in 2024/25, with his 26 goals heavily contributing to the first major trophy of his career as Bayern lifted the Meisterschale.

The England captain also scored 11 goals in 13 UEFA Champions League outings, a tally that was beaten by just two other players during the 2024/25 competition.
Dortmund’s Guirassy was one of them, finding the back of the net 13 times to finish joint-top of the goalscoring charts alongside Barcelona’s Raphinha. All in all, he scored 38 in all competitions, including 21 in the Bundesliga and a joint competition-lead four at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Olise, meanwhile, enjoyed a stellar debut Bundesliga campaign. Not only did he find the back of the net 12 times himself, but he also provided 15 assists – more than any other player in the division – on his way to being named Rookie of the Season.
He, too, was in impressive form at the Club World Cup, scoring three times, while he also found the back of the net on five occasions in 14 Champions League games.

Florian Wirtz, who departed Bayer Leverkusen for English Premier League side Liverpool this summer, was also included amongst the nominees after hitting double figures for goals and assists in last season’s German top flight.
The Germany international is one of six Bundesliga alumni to feature. Ex-Dortmund stars Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi earned recognition after helping Paris Saint-Germain win their first Champions League, while fellow former Black-Yellow ace Jude Bellingham continued to shine at Real Madrid.

Erling Haaland, another who stopped off at Dortmund during his journey to the summit, scored 34 goals in all competitions for Manchester City in 2024/25, while Bayern legend Robert Lewandowski is still ageing like a fine wine at Barcelona.
There is also a place for Viktor Gyökeres, who spent the 2019/20 Bundesliga 2 season with St. Pauli before going on to bag goals galore at Sporting Lisbon and earn a move to Arsenal earlier this summer.
Elsewhere, former Germany and Bayern head coach Hansi Flick has been nominated for the Coach of the Year award after leading Barcelona to the La Liga title.
The Ballon d’Or winner will be revealed at a ceremony at Paris’ Théâtre du Châtelet on 22 September.
