Sha’Carri Richardson looks to return to form at Brussels Diamond League ahead of World Championships in Tokyo

World champion Sha’Carri Richardson is set to face 2025’s fastest woman, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, in the women’s 100m at the Brussels Diamond League on 22 August, as she continues her build-up toward defending her title at next month’s World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

The Paris 2024 Olympic 100m silver medallist will be making her second Diamond League appearance of the season, following a ninth-place finish in Eugene on 5 July.

That race was won by Jefferson-Wooden, Richardson’s training partner, who has since captured the sprint double at last week’s US Track and Field Championships,.

Tokyo 2020 100m champion Marcell Jacobs and 2019 world champion Christian Coleman have also been confirmed for the sprint events. Italian Jacobs will compete in the 100m, while the US sprinter will contest the 200m event.

The Brussels meet is the penultimate stop before the Diamond League series finale in Zurich, scheduled for 27–28 August.
