The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has launched Phase 6 of its Double Shift School Programme to bring more out-of-school children into the formal education system.
According to official documents, 62 additional schools across the province have been included in this phase. These include 16 schools in Haripur, 11 in Swabi, four each in Lakki Marwat and Abbottabad, three in Lower Dir, four in Nowshera, and one each in Khyber and Mardan districts.
The department said both boys’ and girls’ schools have been made part of the programme to ensure equal educational opportunities. The double shift system will also allow working children to attend classes in the afternoon.
Authorities have been instructed to accelerate the enrollment drive. Currently, the programme is operating successfully in over 1,000 schools in various districts.
The provincial government has termed the initiative a significant step towards promoting education and integrating out-of-school children into mainstream learning.
