Nawaz, Talat partnership guides Pakistan to five-wicket win over West Indies




TAROUBA, Trinidad (Dunya News) – An unbroken sixth wicket partnership of 104 runs between Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Talat guided Pakistan to five-wicket win over West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series in Tarouba, Trinidad on Friday.

Hasan Nawaz (63*) and Hussain Talat (41*) joins hands when Pakistan captain Muhammad Rizwan departed after scoring 53 runs in the 38th over to take their side over the rope with seven ball remaining.

Babar Azam also played well for his 47 runs while Abdullah Shafique and Salman Agha contributed 29 and 23 runs respectively. Hasan Nawaz was declared Man of the Match.

Earlier, put in to bat first West Indies set 281-run target for Pakistan in the first One-day International of the three-match series in Tarouba, Tinidad on Friday.

Fifties from Evin Lewis (60), Shai Hope (55) and Roston Chase (53) helped West Indies to post 280 all out in 49 overs. Keacy Carty (30) and Gudakesh Motie (31) were other main contributors.

For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi was pick of the bowlers, claiming four wickets by giving away 51 runs in his eight overs. Nasim Shah got three wickets by giving away 55 runs in eight overs while Sufiyan Muqeem, Saim Ayub and Salman Agha grabbed one wicket each.
