HYDERABAD: Journalist Khawar Hussain, who was found dead in his car in mysterious circumstances, has died by suicide, an initial autopsy report released on Sunday revealed.
Hussain, a young journalist associated with a private news channel, was found dead in his car Saturday night on Hyderabad Road in Sanghar, SSP Sanghar Abid Baloch told reporters.
As per the initial post-mortem report, the bullet recovered from his head was fired from his licensed pistol. “The evidence so far indicates suicide,” a civil surgeon involved in the examination said.
Police said they have collected fingerprints, CCTV footage and other material for forensic review.
Video evidence shows Hussain entering and leaving a local restaurant twice before returning to his vehicle, where he stayed for nearly two hours, investigators said.
Police have also recovered one of the two mobile phones in use, while the other remains missing.
The investigators say it may have been misplaced, dropped, or left behind, and efforts are underway to trace it. The recovered device has been sent for forensic analysis.
According to police, the investigation is being conducted “with minute attention to detail” to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the journalist’s death.
The journalist had been stationed in Karachi for nearly 10 years, working with different media organisations during his career.
The tragic incident drew a quick notice from Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who asked the provincial police chief to submit a report at the earliest.
Shah directed the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon to assign the case to the best investigators and leave no stone unturned in the investigation.
He also offered condolences to Hussain’s family, prayed for their strength, and instructed the administration to extend them support.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori also expressed grief over Hussain’s death and asked the authorities to carry out a probe into the incident.
More than 500 human-like robots from 16 countries, including Japan, have demonstrated their skills at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing.
The four-day event that ended on Sunday was hosted by the Chinese capital’s municipal government and other entities. China has been making strenuous efforts to excel in the field of humanoid robotics.
The robots competed in 26 events, such as track and field, soccer and dancing.
In the 100-meter sprint, the winning robot clocked 21.5 seconds.
Kick-boxing robots, operated by humans, staggered after getting punched by their opponents, but regained their balance and kept on fighting.
There were some mishaps. On the soccer pitch, fully-autonomous robots competed in teams. One of them suddenly collapsed after going out of control. In the 400-meter relay, robots collided with one another.
An 11-year-old boy said that when one robot fell, the others fell as well. He said that’s different from human beings.
A man in his 40s visiting with his family said China has seen rapid progress in humanoid robotics in recent years. He said he believes China will become a leading force in this sector.
Some competitions were about serving hotel customers or sorting construction materials in real-world situations. Some robots took too much time performing their tasks or failed to complete them.
The event also highlighted the challenges that developers will have to tackle.
The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M fills an interesting role in the brand’s lineup as simply a great, wearable, everyday watch. Unlike the Seamaster 300M or the Speedmaster, which are made for underwater adventures or space travel, respectively, the Aqua Terra wants you to kill it while you grab a coffee and head to that meeting. The watch also looks great on a red carpet. Omega turns the Aqua Terra out in all manner of bright colors, and the brand is adding another compelling shade to the roster today.
The new Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra takes the watch’s diving heritage and turns the piece out in a sleek color combination. The turquoise and black ceramic is a handsome mix. There are two new pieces, a 38 mm and 41 mm variant, available in this color combo today. The Aqua Terra is Omega’s equivalent to Rolex’s Datejust: a watch that can be worn day in, day out and for a price that’s relatively friendly compared to the other wares you’d find at your local high-end boutique. Seen from that perspective, the turquoise colorway, which first appeared late last year, albeit without this version’s ceramic black bezel, is an especially exciting addition. I mean, imagine the type of person rocking this reference on the daily.
The net effect of the blue-black combination is an aesthetic that lies somewhere between the tactical and the tropical—a sort of vacation watch for when MI6 lets James Bond take a week off but might call at any moment.
The turquoise accents are all over this new Aqua Terra. Within the black inner ring of the bezel is a turquoise-colored, polished lacquer dial that fades from a darker to a lighter shade toward its center. Finished with applied, black PVD-coated dart hour markers, a framed date window at 6 o’clock, and a luminous arrow-tipped handset (also in black), it boasts a bright turquoise minute track that connects visually to the top stitching on its integrated black rubber strap with a neat embossed pattern.

Hong Kong has recorded a total of nine confirmed chikungunya fever infections so far this year, all of which were imported cases, according to the Centre for Health Protection.
The CHP said no new infections were detected on Sunday as it urged members of the public to take proper anti-mosquito and personal protective measures, especially those returning from regions where mosquito-borne diseases are endemic.
“Individuals experiencing symptoms such as fever or acute joint pain should seek medical advice promptly and inform their doctors of their travel history” the CHP said.
“Do not attempt self-testing, as this may lead to delays in diagnosis and treatment.”
Hong Kong recorded between one and 11 imported cases annually from 2016 to 2019, the CHP said.

The CHP added that its Port Health Division continued to step up inspections at boundary control points and to remind cross-boundary public transport operators to ensure proper environmental hygiene and effective implementation of anti-mosquito measures.
Port Health Division staff members also conducted temperature screenings and health assessments for travelers with fever or related symptoms.
Controller of the CHP Edwin Tsui Lok-kin reminded members of the public that there are currently no rapid test products on the market that have been certified by international health authorities for public use in self-testing for chikungunya fever.

People should also promptly seek medical advice if they suspect they are infected and not self-medicate, particularly with aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as ibuprofen), as these may cause serious side effects, including increasing the risk of hemorrhage, he added.
Just days before President Donald Trump’s inauguration for the second term, a senior Pakistani diplomat briefed a group of people including experts and journalists in Islamabad. His focus was on the Pakistan-US relationship under Trump’s administration. The bottom line was: Pakistan should be prepared for a tough challenge.
According to the diplomat, Trump’s team was surrounded by people who had little sympathy for Pakistan. Experts and those who understand Trump as well as the nature of Pakistan-US ties echoed similar sentiments. There was consensus that despite the unpredictable nature of Trump, there was little or no room for better prospects of Pakistan-US ties. On the contrary, everyone agreed that the relationship between the US and India would only deepen under President Trump’s second term.
But when President Trump delivered a maiden address to the US Congress, he praised Pakistan. This was some achievement given that until then he spared no one. He launched a diatribe both against friends and foes. Pakistan was the only exception, which Trump mentioned in a positive way.
His praise stemmed from Pakistan’s assistance in arresting one of the key masterminds of the Abbey Gate bombing in Kabul in August 2021. Muhammad Sharifullah, one of the ISIS-Khorasan operatives and according to the US was one of the facilitators of Kabul Airport attack, was apprehended on the intelligence provided by the CIA and swiftly handed over to the US.
That cooperation not only earned Pakistan praise from Trump but also opened a channel of communication that would eventually lead to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir being invited to launch at the White House in an unprecedented turn of events.
When Trump applauded Pakistan at the US Congress, people were still sceptical that this bonhomie would be short-lived as Trump cannot be trusted. Questions were raised about what Pakistan had offered or was going to offer to the US in return for this cozying up approach of the US? Many people also wonder whether Pakistan would get anything in return. But what happened over the past few weeks following high-level exchanges and frequent interactions between the two countries was that Trump’s praise was not mere rhetoric but now reflecting a shift in the US policy.
The substantive outcome of Pakistan helping Trump to advance his domestic agenda by arresting Abbey Gate bombing facilitator was the US State Department’s move to declare Balochistan Liberation Army and its suicide squad Majeed Brigade as terrorist outfit. The designation of BLA and the Majeed Brigade, as Foreign Terrorist Organisations (FTO), was a major victory for Pakistan.
Islamabad had long sought its listing but with little success. The US declared Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as a terrorist outfit but successive US administrations refrained from taking a similar stance against groups active in Balochistan. One of the reasons included that such groups including BLA and Majeed Brigade were targeting not just the Pakistani interests but also primarily the Chinese interests in the resource-rich Balochistan province.
This in many ways probably served the agendas of those who don’t want China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to succeed. That was the reason the US decision was extraordinary.
The United States not only listed BLA and Majeed Brigade but also seems to be ready to extend cooperation to Pakistan to fight them. The two countries held counterterrorism dialogue, a regular feature, in Islamabad recently. The noticeable change was that for the first time BLA made it to the joint statement.
Both delegations underscored the “critical importance” of developing effective approaches to terrorist threats, singling out the BLA alongside transnational outfits. Washington lauded Islamabad’s “continued successes” in containing entities that threaten regional and global peace. Therefore, listing of BLA and Majeed Brigade is a development that carries legal, political, diplomatic, and operational implications for Pakistan, the US, and even India.
First, any BLA or Majeed Brigade funds or property in the US jurisdiction are now frozen. Members and affiliates are barred from entering the US. Providing material support to the group is now a serious US federal crime, even for individuals outside the US if they have US connections. The designation makes it harder for BLA to raise funds internationally through charities, front companies, or sympathetic diaspora groups.
The FTO tag makes it riskier for members to travel abroad or seek asylum in countries aligned with US counterterrorism policies. The US can now more actively share intelligence with Pakistan and allies to track, disrupt, or eliminate the group’s cells. Diaspora-based sympathisers in the West could face monitoring and prosecution. If BLA finds safe havens in neighbouring states including Afghanistan, the US listing pressures those governments to take action or face reputational costs.
While the designation won’t end the insurgency, it can weaken its external support structure, especially for high-profile suicide attacks like those by the Majeed Brigade.
Second, Pakistan has long stated that BLA is a foreign-backed terrorist group responsible for attacks in Balochistan. The US designation is an international endorsement of that position.
Third, India has openly supported Baloch separatists. The US move signals that Washington is not aligning with New Delhi on this issue.
Fourth, this listing highlights a warming security relationship between Pakistan and the US.
Fifth, quietly, this could create discomfort in New Delhi if US counterterrorism measures start exposing any Indian contacts with Baloch separatists. It is not said publicly but the US move could also be linked to its keen interest in the untapped mines and minerals resources available in abundance in Balochistan. But security is a major challenge.
Some view the US interest in mines and minerals with suspicion. The view, nevertheless, in official Pakistani circles is that the US investment in Balochistan could stabilise the situation and it may lay the bases for long-term cooperation between the two countries. The listing of BLA and Majeed Brigade is being seen in that context.
Weight loss isn’t just about dropping kilos on the scale; it’s also about building muscle to tone your body.
Weight loss is a dynamic process that includes dropping kilos as well as getting toned with muscles. At first glance, they may seem like two different goals, but in reality, in your wider fitness trajectory, they go hand in hand with the correct approach. The key is smart training that ensures weight loss is not just a drop in the scale’s number, but also more holistic.

Fitness coach Eric Roberts shared in an Instagram post some tips that help address these two concerns together.
11 workout losing fat and building muscles at the same time
Eric listed out these tips:
Stop resting for 30 seconds in between your sets. You should be resting for at least 90 seconds.
Stop lifting light weights for high reps. Lift heavier weights in the five to ten rep range.
Stop doing: a chest day, a back day, an arm day. And instead, follow a lower-body upper-body split during the week so you can hit your muscles more frequently.
If your workout program calls for three sets, all three of those sets should be heavy, challenging sets.
The last one to three reps of your set should be very hard; otherwise, you need to lift heavier.
You don’t need to work out for five, six, or seven days a week. Working out three to four times a week is more than enough to see progress. Don’t even need to work out for an hour; working out for 30 to 45 minutes is more than enough to see progress.
Stay away from high-intensity cardio, as it is going to increase your cortisol and increase your cravings.
The majority of your cardio should just be walking 6,000 to 10,000 steps per day.
Bulgarian split squats give great results.
Do cardio after your weightlifting or on rest days. Do not do it before.
Make sure you are eating enough protein; otherwise, you won’t build muscle.
What do they mean?
The tips shared by the fitness coach indicate that building muscle and losing weight require smart training rather than just more training. It goes beyond simply spending hours in the gym and focuses on prioritising heavy, challenging sets with proper rest, which helps muscles recover and boosts metabolism, aiding fat loss. The importance of protein is also highlighted, showcasing the need for a well-rounded approach that combines strength, recovery, and nutrition for sustainable results.

Dressed-up humanoid robots perform a fashion show during the opening ceremony of The 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, capital of China, Aug. 14, 2025. (Xinhua/Zhang Chenlin)
BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) — At the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, four robots dressed in 3D-printed terracotta warrior armor beat drums in synchrony, while five others at the front danced in seamless harmony alongside a live performer, creating a striking cross-millennial dialogue between technology and art.
“With their dexterous hands, these humanoid robots hold drumsticks and execute precise strikes perfectly in time with the music,” said Gao Qian, deputy head of the academic affairs office of Beijing Dance Academy (BDA).
The robot troupe won the first gold medal in the group dance event of the games on Friday. Their performance was inspired by the Terracotta Warriors built by Emperor Qinshihuang of the Qin Dynasty (221 B.C.-207 B.C.), who unified China for the first time.
“We are confident in showcasing traditional Chinese culture by integrating dance moves into robots’ movements,” said Gao, noting that the humanoid robot technology is evolving at a rapid pace.
BDA and Optics Valley Dongzhi, the developer of the 1.7-meter-tall, 70-kg humanoid robots, worked together for three months prior to the performance. Initially, the basic settings of robots meant they could not meet the fluidity standards required. However, the problem was solved, as most dance moves were performed by a human dancer from BDA wearing a motion-capture suit and then programmed into the robots.
Lou Kaiqi, deputy general manager of Optics Valley Dongzhi, said the engineering team upgraded the robots’ hardware, such as motors and components, and optimized algorithms to ensure mobility, stability and coordination.
Lou explained that if two robots sense that their distance is too close, they can autonomously make minor adjustments to their direction of travel to avoid veering off course or colliding with each other.
“The performance places quite high demands on robots’ motion control capabilities. If we develop sufficient capacity in this area, the robotic technology can be extended to other industries and scenarios,” he added.

The World Humanoid Robot Games, the first of its kind globally, attracted 280 teams from 16 countries competing in 26 events from Friday through Sunday. Events spanned athletic challenges such as running, high jump and football, exhibition performance including dance and Wushu, and skills-based tasks like moving materials, sorting drugs and cleaning across different scenarios.
“We hope to truly advance humanoid robots from the laboratory into real-world applications in factories, hospitals, homes and other scenarios. This is a crucial step toward achieving large-scale production,” said Li Zhiqi from the Beijing municipal government’s counsellors’ office.
During the standing high jump event on Saturday, RobotEra L7, a bipedal humanoid robot, leapt using both straddle and bent-leg techniques, ultimately claiming the gold medal with a height of 95.641 cm. Among track and field events for humanoid robots, this competition requires exceptionally precise sensors and advanced dynamic control.
“The games serve as a platform to display our robot’s hardware performance and stable motion system,” said Shi Xuanyang, an engineer from RobotEra. Currently, the model can also perform a variety of general operational tasks, including logistics sorting, folding clothes and carrying goods.
Other technologies also found application during the games. An optical motion capture technology system developed by Noitom Limited features sub-millimeter positioning accuracy and millisecond-level latency. The company placed 16 cameras at the standing high jump event to track the spatial positions of robot competitors from multiple perspectives.
“The jump movement is too fast for referees to capture accurately with the naked eye, and currently, robots cannot jump over a bar like real athletes. Our system reproduces details of their movements and serves as an objective ‘referee’,” said Zhou Feng, vice president of Noitom Limited.
Beyond robots, Zhou said that Noitom has also supported Chinese athletes by converting complex motion data into scientific training plans. The company has served more than 20,000 clients in over 50 countries.

“Through the games, China has shown the world its strengths in humanoid robot design, industry chains and a large user base. Global AI developers can integrate their algorithms with China’s top-tier hardware to solve problems such as emergency rescue and household services,” said Zhou Changjiu, president of the RoboCup Asia-Pacific Confederation, one of the organizers of the games.
Elaborating on the significance of humanoid robots, Zhou Changjiu said that while a mechanical arm suffices for a production line, household tasks often require execution in a human-like manner.
“From the height of bookshelves to toys children play with, everything in a house is created in accordance with human needs and based on human height and body shape,” he said. “It is only a matter of time before humanoid robots enter households.” ■

Soon after the Apple iPhone event takes place, we’ll finally have access to iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 — both of which are bringing huge upgrades to your iPhone and iPad’s operating systems. One you might be thrilled to play around with is the visual update: Liquid Glass. (It’s like the better-executed version of Windows Vista.) We spent two weeks test-driving it — you can check out our detailed hands-on iOS 26 preview, or you can try it out yourself by downloading and installing the public beta 2. That software is a more stable iteration of the separate developer version, which recently hit the beta 6 waypoint, and offers a few more flashy features not yet available in the public version. (While the public beta is open to everyone and quite stable, always remember there’s a degree of risk involved with beta software.) Additionally, there are credible reports that iOS 26 could bring a new live translation feature to AirPods, too. Not ready to upgrade your smartphone or tablet this year? No worries, we’ll help you find out if your devices will be able to run iOS 26.
While Apple didn’t nix any iPhones from its eligibility list last year, that’s not the case for 2025 — a few models are getting cut this time. All iPhone 8 models and the iPhone X were the last to get the boot in 2023, and this year the 2018 models are getting left behind. If you have an ineligible device, you won’t be able to download iOS 26 when it becomes available this fall.
We’ll get to the bottom of which iPhones and iPads will support iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 this year. To see what’s coming with the latest OSes, check out everything announced at Apple’s WWDC June 9 event. One thing you shouldn’t immediately expect is Apple’s updated version of Siri, though the company is reportedly working on a ‘stripped-down’ AI chatbot to compete with ChatGPT.
These three iPhones won’t be compatible with iOS 26
Unlike last year, several iPhone models won’t be eligible to download the newest iOS when it makes its debut this fall. This trio of models first released in 2018 won’t be coming to the iOS 26 party:
iPhones compatible with iOS 26
While we don’t yet know the new iPhones Apple will be dropping this fall — though there are iPhone 17 rumors — we do know, per Apple’s site, that the phones listed below will be compatible with iOS 26. Basically, if you have an iPhone that was announced in 2019 or later, you’re in the clear:
iPhone SE (second generation or later)
iPads compatible with iPadOS 26
The iPads listed below, and any iPads released later this year, are eligible to download iPadOS 26.
iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (3rd generation and later)
iPad Pro 11‑inch (1st generation and later)
iPad Air (3rd generation and later, including M2 and M3)
iPad (8th generation and later, including A16)
iPad mini (5th generation and later, including A17 Pro)
What if I don’t want to buy a new iPhone?
If you want to continue using your older iPhone that isn’t supported by iOS 26, that’s fine. However, you’ll miss out on security updates which could potentially put your phone at risk for malware and other threats. Additionally, some apps may stop working if they require a certain version of iOS or later. And of course, you won’t be able to access the latest features iOS 26 offers.
When will iOS 26 become available?
Apple usually rolls out its latest iOS in mid-September, just a few days before the new iPhones hit store shelves. Last year, it released iOS 18 on Monday, Sept. 16. Expect a confirmation of the release date at the iPhone 17 event, expected in early September.
iOS 26 features we’re excited about
Liquid Glass design: Your home screen is getting revamped with new app icons, including dark mode and all-clear options. You’ll also notice buttons with a new floating design. Liquid Glass was designed to make all of Apple’s OSes more cohesive.
Phone app redesign: You’ll finally be able to scroll through contacts, recent calls and voicemail messages all on one screen. It also comes with a new feature called Hold Assist that’ll notify you when an agent comes to the phone so you can avoid the elevator music.
Live Translate: iOS 26 is bringing the ability to have a conversation via phone call or text message with someone who speaks another language. Live Translate will translate your conversation in real time.
Polls feature: Coming to group messages in the Messages app, chat members will be able to create polls. This can help prevent the unwanted 30+ messages when it comes to deciding which restaurant you’re meeting at this weekend.
Denzel Washington is making his stance on cancel culture clear. The two-time Oscar winner, currently starring in Highest 2 Lowest, told Complex that he does not concern himself with public approval or the risk of being “canceled.”
When asked whether he worried about cancel culture, Washington responded, “What does that mean — to be canceled?” After the interviewer explained it meant losing public support, Washington replied, “who cares? What made public support so important to begin with?”
He continued, “I don’t care who’s following who. You can’t lead and follow at the same time, and you can’t follow and lead at the same time. I don’t follow anybody. I follow the heavenly spirit. I follow God, I don’t follow man. I have faith in God. I have hope in man, but look around, it ain’t working out so well.”
Washington added, “You can’t be canceled if you haven’t signed up. Don’t sign up. Don’t get me started. My chest started hurting. You know, chest is getting tight talking about it.”
This interview comes just days after Washington stated he is “not that interested in Oscars.” Speaking with Jake’s Takes, he said, “I don’t care about that kind of stuff. I’ve been at this a long time, and there’s time when I won and shouldn’t have won and then didn’t win and should’ve won. Man gives the award. God gives the reward.”
Highest 2 Lowest opened in theaters this week and begins streaming on Apple TV+ September 5.
