IIS Express experiences compatibility issues on Windows 11 when TLS 1.3 is used, especially when client certificates are involved.
The problem affects developers who use the lightweight web server to test and validate applications locally. Microsoft has acknowledged the bug, but it is unlikely that a structural solution will be found anytime soon.
TLS 1.3 offers better security and performance than its predecessor TLS 1.2, but omits an important feature: renegotiation. This functionality was used by servers such as IIS Express to request a client certificate only after the initial handshake. Because TLS 1.3 does not support this mechanism, IIS Express crashes with mTLS configurations. For Windows 11 versions prior to 24H2 and for Windows Server 2022, this results in a broken connection with the error message ERR_CONNECTION_RESET. On Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025, this is accompanied by an HTTP 500 error with the code 0x80070032, which simply means “not supported.”
Three temporary solutions
Microsoft points to three temporary solutions that developers can apply. Disabling TLS 1.3 via the Windows registry is the most direct route, although this affects all applications on the system and falls back to TLS 1.2. Another option is to modify the http.sys binding via the netsh command, which requests the client certificate during the initial handshake. Removing the client certificate requirement from the configuration is also an option, but this is mainly suitable for development environments.
According to reports from Neowin, a Microsoft employee has indicated that they do not know whether an official fix will ever be released and, if so, what it would look like. In theory, TLS 1.3 does have an alternative method, namely post-handshake client authentication, but this is not supported by most browsers. In addition, IIS and IIS Express are based on the Windows http.sys kernel driver. This layer handles the TLS negotiation entirely before IIS itself comes into play, which means that the problem actually lies in the architecture of the underlying system.
The likelihood of developers finding a permanent solution in the near future therefore seems slim. For the time being, they will have to rely on workarounds that are more or less suitable depending on the situation. Anyone who wants to continue using TLS 1.3 in combination with IIS Express will therefore have to make compromises.
The Mega Evolution expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game is one of the most anticipated sets in years. With fan favourites like Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex confirmed, hype is driving preorder frenzies across every major retailer.
The U.S. release date is September 26, 2025, while Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will see the set two weeks later on October 10, 2025.
Finding sealed products like these at a fair price is already a challenge. Some stores are holding MSRP, others are inflating prices, and secondary marketplaces have their own dynamics to keep in mind, too.
While we can maybe expect products from this set to be joining Pokémon TCG deals further down the line, huge initial demand will definitely see certain cards become price juggernauts among upcoming crashers and climbers.
To make navigating the preorder chaos as easy as possible, here’s the complete breakdown of where to secure your Mega Evolution boxes, bundles, and packs before launch.
Elite Trainer Box (ETB)
The ETB is the centrepiece of the Mega Evolution set, featuring either Mega Lucario or Mega Gardevoir designs. Each box includes 9 booster packs, card sleeves, dice, and other useful accessories like damage-counter dice and a competition-legal coin-flip die.
TCGPlayer: Resale prices are already well above retail, averaging $99–$103. Pokémon Center exclusive versions (different art) are listed around $370 and sell out quickly.
Best Buy: Lists ETBs at $49.99 (MSRP), though stock rotates between “Coming Soon” and “Sold Out.”
Walmart: Preorders currently not available, but may be back in stock irregularly — but usually slightly above MSRP at listings around $59.99 when in stock.
Amazon: Currently one listing available at $144.99. Third-party sellers tend to inflate these further, with early listings hitting double MSRP.
For collectors who must have the ETB, Best Buy and Walmart are worth constant refreshing. If reliability matters more, TCGplayer is the most straightforward (though costly) option.
Booster Box (36 packs)
Mega Evolution Booster Box – ME01: Mega Evolution (MEG)
0
The Mega Evolution Booster Box is the go-to for players chasing a large volume of packs in one shot.
TCGplayer: Currently sits around $312–$347, more than double MSRP but readily available with presale guarantees for Sept. 26.
Best Buy: Lists the Booster Box at $160.99 (MSRP). Like the ETB, it cycles in and out of availability.
Walmart: Pricing is inconsistent; listings vary depending on third-party sellers.
Amazon: Stock shifts in and out of availability, but the the last Booster Display Box we saw was posted at $279.99, nearly $120 above retail.
Target: Previously available for preorder, but sold out at the time of writing.
If a sealed case is the goal, TCGPlayer and Amazon are the only places with stable stock right now, though both carry heavy markups.
Booster Bundle (6 packs)
Mega Evolution Booster Bundle – ME01: Mega Evolution (MEG)
0
Booster Bundles are smaller sealed boxes containing six Mega Evolution booster packs, positioned as a step between single boosters and larger boxes.
TCGplayer: Around $59.89–$60.71, more than double MSRP but widely available.
Best Buy: $26.94 (MSRP), marked as a high-demand preorder item.
Walmart: None currently available, and later listings may vary, with some past prices close to MSRP and others inflated.
These particular Pokémon TCG bundles often sell out quickly at MSRP, making TCGplayer the safer bet for guaranteed access.
3-Pack Blisters/Booster Bundle
Mega Evolution 3 Pack Blister [Psyduck] – ME01: Mega Evolution (MEG)
0
Blisters are a long-standing favourites for casual collectors and kids, bundling three booster packs with a promo card.
TCGplayer: Around $39.31–$39.79, more than double retail but available if Walmart sells out
Walmart: Preorders live at $15.87, shipping by release day, making it one of the best live deals right now.
Best Buy: $13.99 (MSRP) but flagged as “Coming Soon.”
Mega Evolution 3 Pack Blister [Golduck] – ME01: Mega Evolution (MEG)
0
Sleeved Booster Packs
Mega Evolution Sleeved Booster Pack Art Bundle [Set of 4] – ME01: Mega Evolution (MEG)
0
Single-sleeved boosters are the cheapest way to buy in, usually priced around $4–$5.
TCGplayer: Available in presale form, averaging at higher amounts, ranging around $12.95 each — also meaning they’re more steadily available. The $60+ set of four will also save you money on delivery if you’re aiming to buy more than one.
Best Buy: Listed at $4.49 (MSRP) with availability fluctuating.
Walmart: Sleeved boosters appear intermittently, with none are available at the time of writing. Prices can vary if sold by third parties.
Target: Previously available at MSRP, but sold out at the time of writing.
These are low-margin products for retailers outside of TCGplayer, so availability tends to vanish fast.

Build & Battle products include four booster packs and a 40-card deck, great for local pre-release play.
TCGplayer: Along with readily available standard boxes for $53.39, larger Build & Battle Box displays (10 units) are listed at around $589.99.
Walmart: Currently sold out, but listed at $59.99, a steep markup compared to their usual $19.99–$24.99 price range.

TCGplayer: No listings currently available, but market value for certain SKUs listed at $49.99 — around five times MSRP. Listings are likely to appear here soon.
Best Buy: Only retailer with a listing at MSRP, but currently out of stock.
Walmart: Previously available, but no unlisted — may appear again ahead of launch.
Extra Need-to-Knows on Scoring Mega Evolution cards
Every major item in the Pokémon TCG’s Mega Evolution expansion is either up for preorder or will be surfacing more soon at retailers as we get closer to its September 26 release date. Getting MSRP (or around it) can be possible at Best Buy and Walmart if you’re fast, while TCGplayer remains the most consistent — albeit more expensive — source for every sealed product type.
Amazon, meanwhile, continues its trend of inflated third-party listings, with Booster Boxes already at nearly $280.
With demand surging and allocations already under pressure, the safest move is to lock in preorders now, whether through TCGplayer’s stable secondary market or by constantly refreshing Best Buy and Walmart listings for MSRP opportunities.
While Amazon UK has been known to counter this with invitational lotteries, like for the Destined Rivals ETBs, letting you sign up and be hopefully chosen at random to buy ETBs and boosters at MSRP, the inflated Wild West-like prices are often still the only way to get them at Amazon US.
Prime shipping and return protections are convenient, but the reliance on third-party sellers creates a market where prices can spiral quickly. Unless convenience outweighs cost, Amazon should be among your last stops for preorders, as far as availability at other retailers currently goes.
With allocations expected to be tight and demand surging, the Mega Evolution set is shaping up as one of the most competitive preorder chases of the year. Whether you choose to gamble on catching an MSRP restock at Best Buy, secure a reasonably priced blister from Walmart, or lock in a sure bet on TCGplayer, acting early is the best strategy to avoid overpaying later.

On August 31, Linus Torvalds announced the fourth release candidate of Linux 6.17 via the Linux kernel mailing list. According to the developer, the commit numbers and diffstat are entirely in line with expectations. The cycle has also proceeded without surprises so far.
Nevertheless, there are a few notable changes, according to Neowin, including a correction for the Intel idpf network driver and improvements in the handling of system registers within arm64 KVM.
Torvalds (photo) emphasizes that most of the code changes are minor, often no more than a few lines. The log files contain updates for HID drivers, GPU and DRM components, network functionality, and various file systems. An earlier change in virtio was also reversed. Nothing will change for users yet; the code is available on kernel.org and at this stage is mainly aimed at developers who actively contribute to testing.
In addition to the regular fixes, there are some broader developments visible. Bcachefs is now marked as externally maintained, which means that new functionality will no longer be added in-tree. Furthermore, a bug in the TSC logic on older Intel Pentium 4 Prescott processors has been fixed. New hardware is also supported, such as the Logitech G PRO 2 LIGHTSPEED mouse, the Wacom Art Pen 2, the ELECON M-DT2DR8K, and the Lenovo Legion Go.
Final release coming soon
The schedule for Linux 6.17 therefore remains largely on track. Torvalds indicates that the success of the release depends on extensive test results from the community. When developers identify problems early on, the kernel can stabilize more quickly and delays in the further process are less likely.
The final release is expected to be available in late September or early October, although the development cycle remains unpredictable. In our previous post about Linux 6.16, we already pointed out the possibility that vacation periods and personal schedules could throw a wrench in the works, but for now, the new version appears to be on track and without any major obstacles.
2025 appears to be the year when big tech platforms slide into people’s DMs… with news about how those direct messages are evolving. Hot on the heels of Spotify bringing messaging back to its app, Instagram and TikTok have made some DM announcements.
Instagram is launching some new tools to help creators and businesses with bigger audiences manage their inboxes. Multi-select filters, custom shortcuts and the ability to create new inbox folders are aimed at decluttering the incoming flood of messages for those accounts.
As for TikTok, it’s update is focused on regular users, who will now be able to send voice notes and up to nine photos or videos in their messages within its app. That’s another move into WhatsApp, Snapchat and Instagram territory for TikTok, which wants to be seen as a communications platform as much as a video app. The news follows its launch of a dedicated ‘Creator Inbox’ feature and ‘Creator Chat Rooms’ in July.
With an ankle injury to Dominic Solanke now looking potentially more serious than first suggested and Richarlison seemingly made out of spun sugar, hopes and dreams, Tottenham Hotspur are now looking for reinforcements at the forward position. Towards that, Cartilage Free Captain can EXCLUSIVELY reveal that Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy have sanctioned a stunning approach for Arsenal striker Bukayo Saka.
A source close to both parties said Spurs are initially offering Alfie Whiteman, a ham sandwich and unlimited free stadium karting tickets to give Saka an out; work continues on personal terms, with Spurs reportedly willing to put him on weekly wages similar to that of “fellow promising talent” Pape Matar Sarr.
Reached on his cellphone while chugging a quintuple espresso and snorting a line of adderall, Paratici said this move was intend to both strengthen Tottenham and also give Saka an escape hatch from the dreadful tactics of Mikael Arteta.
“Bukayo Saka is an outstanding young player, and we at Tottenham Hotspur feel a player of his obvious skills and caliber deserves to be on a team that wins in Europe. I have no further comment at this time.”
— Fabio Paratici, probably
When it was pointed out that Saka is an Arsenal player born and bred having come up through their academy, Paratici is said to have quipped “Well, so was Harry Kane and that didn’t matter much, did it? Anyway, COYS.”
Lofi-12 XT version 1.5 Quick Guide [Update & New Features] – YouTube
Watch On
Sonicware’s Lofi-12 XT first landed in 2023, itself an update to the company’s Liven Lofi-12 that had launched a year previously. Both machines share a similar ethos – reviving the crunchy, low-bitrate sound of samplers from the ‘80s and ‘90s within compact, modernised instruments that offered easier and more flexible sound shaping than the machines that inspired them.
The Lofi-12 XT expanded on the concept with longer sample times, increased connectivity and more hands-on performance features, all while keeping the price around the relatively-affordable £/$400 mark. Now the capabilities of the XT model have been expanded further via a substantial v1.5 firmware update.
The most interesting new features come to the device’s Sound Page. Here the machine gains new reverse playback sample modes, which allow it to play samples back-to-front, either as one-shots, loops or slices. The sampler’s slice mode has been improved too, making it possible to chop a loop into up-to 16 slices, as well as making it easier to edit all slices simultaneously.
The machine’s sequencing workflow gets an upgrade too, allowing users to start playback of a sequence from a specific step, as well as preview the sound of a specific step in a sequence – all of which promises to make editing and adjusting patterns easier.
Lofi-12 XT gains four new master effects too. These are Snip Loop, which will capture and repeat a chunk of the current loop, an Isolator EQ and a new beat repeat-style Remix effect. There are also newly separated Sidechain and standard Compressor modes.
Perhaps the most useful of the new features is audio exporting, which allows users to export the audio of their loops directly as a .wav file that can easily be imported directly into a DAW or another device. The Lofi-12 XT can export a full mixdown of a complete loop or individual stems of each track.
Lofi-12 XT still has a 16-bit/12kHz/24kHz engine at its core, equipped with a 12-bit sampler mode. Each sample has a maximum length of 300 seconds and, depending on your SD card, you can store as many samples as you like and load up 256 of these into a single project.

The onboard eight-track sequencer allows for both real and step-time recording plus it can record automation. The new effects are added to an existing lineup of 20 master processors.
Beyond the headline features, v1.5 also adds a variety of improvements to the interface, MIDI functionality and bug fixes. The XT now also comes with samples created by hip-hop producers Dibiase and Ski Beatz.
The v1.5 firmware is available now for existing users. New users can currently pick up the sampler for a discounted price of £359/$379. Head to the Sonicware site for more info.
As broadcasters and producers deploy IP, cloud and artificial intelligence technologies to more efficiently produce and deliver content to multiple different platforms, KVM systems are helping them revamp their operations and tap into the benefits of newer technologies.
In the process, KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) systems, originally conceived of as a simple way to control multiple computers, are undergoing a rapid transformation, adding capabilities and tools designed to help producers and broadcasters manage increasingly large operations, handle higher-resolution content, control large remote productions and oversee complex arrays of devices, networks and processes relying on IP and cloud workflows.
“In both the AV world as well as the broadcast world, there is a definite move towards IP,” says Mark Hempel, head of product management at IHSE, which has launched the Draco XStreme KVM extender product line that uses the JPEG XS codec to provide cutting-edge performance.
In some cases, as they expand their footprint to play a more central role in controlling large operations, KVM tech providers are also playing in the same space as video platform providers such as Akla, which uses artificial intelligence to seamlessly merge streaming video, monetization and broadcast workflows in the cloud. This increasingly blurs the lines between KVM products and other technologies while also providing new competition for a variety of tech providers.
“We live in a SaaS world,” Matt Smith, chief evangelist at Akta, said. “All our tools are cloud-based and our customers can access them from anywhere. They can program channels, edit programs and publish FAST channels. They don’t need to remote into a box and leverage KVM technologies to monitor and manage their operations.”
IP, Cloud Imperatives The transition to IP infrastructures continues to be one of the major trends driving many of these changes. “Everyone is moving over to IP,” says Thomas Tang, president and founder of Apantac, which offers a variety of solutions, including its openGear OG KVM over IP, for users making that transition. “Every time, there is a new facility or they are replacing the infrastructure, they are going IP.”
Adds Catherine Koutsaris, product marketing manager at Matrox Video: “The transition to IP has transformed expectations for KVM systems. Legacy KVM switchers are increasingly viewed as outdated. They’re proprietary, often expensive and difficult to scale or configure without vendor-specific training. By contrast, IP-based KVMs can run over standard network infrastructure, allowing users to scale and adapt the system as needed. This flexibility is one of the biggest drivers of growth in the market, enabling more efficient, customizable, and interoperable installations.”

Leo Bull, chief revenue officer at G&D North America and VuWall, said the move to IP is part of a larger effort by broadcasters and other M&E companies to create more efficient workflows and break down old operational silos. “There’s a lot of value in unification of disparate, formerly disparate, systems and solutions that provide an administrative team to be able to control multiple silos of equipment,” he said. “Merging that together is a big, big trend.”
KVM providers are also offering users more choices in terms of how they transition to IP.
To help smooth the upgrade path to IP while maintaining very low latency, high-quality video, IHSE has introduced its new Draco EXtreme line, including the Draco vario XS DisplayPort 1.2 Extender Series, which uses JPEG-XS.
“This gives us a very high-performance codec with regard to real-time and high-quality imaging,” Hempel says. “This will also help interconnect with IP interfaces and provide more seamless integration with broadcast signals.”
Workflow Shifts Another major trend driving important changes in KVM technologies is the move to cloud-based workflows. “Recently, we have seen leading broadcast organizations adopting new virtual production technology to streamline workflows and reduce postproduction overheads,” John Halksworth, senior product manager at Adder Technology, says. “This change allows for real-time adaptations to occur, reducing the requirement for re-recording and improved decision-making timelines. A shift towards virtual production also sees an even bigger requirement for remote collaboration, and this is a key area that Adder continues to support its customers in achieving.”
These transitions come as KVM systems continue to be applied to a wider array of operations that connect an ever-growing amount of devices.
“KVM used to be just little desktop switches,” Tang at Apantac says. “Now, every mobile truck has a KVM switch, whether it is a physical switch or KVM-over-IP system, because more and more computers are involved with all the graphics, scoreboards and other capabilities.”
Adds Matrox Video’s Koutsaris: “KVM technologies are an increasingly essential part of control-room design, including in content-production environments. Nearly every control room can benefit from an IP KVM setup, whether to declutter operator desks by removing physical machines, reduce noise and heat, or centralize computer access for better security.”
Other use cases involve more traditional applications like postproduction, broadcast operations and remote production, making KVM widely used in TV, film and streaming industries, Koutsaris and others say.
G&D’s recent acquisition of VuWall provides a more unified hardware and software platform for managing larger, more complex operations from a simplified user interface, Bull says. “That means that the team administering this environment don’t need multiple control interfaces to manage their entire video ecosystem in this environment,” he says. “They can do that from a single interface.”
Like many parts of the M&E industry, AI has emerged as a hot topic for KVM providers, particularly in cases where such solutions are used to control and manage larger operations or distributed productions, and in cases where KVM systems are deployed in cloud-based or virtualized environments.
AI Results and Realities This has led to KVM solutions competing with providers of AI-powered video platforms or getting integrated into operations that also use large, AI-powered video platforms.
Smith at video platform provider Akla notes that its AI-powered technologies have produced “tangible, measurable results” for clients like the NFL, TelevisaUnivision’s ViX streaming platform, Fox Television Stations, Nexstar Media Group and others, producing efficiencies that have dramatically reduced headcounts. In one case, the user reduced staff from 60 people to five.
Akla has also approached AI as a foundational technology, not an add-on, for its platform, which provides centralized asset management, cloud-based processing, live channel scheduling, AI-driven video editing, server-side ad insertion, georestrictions and multiplatform capabilities. “It allows people to be more efficient than they have ever been,” Smith says.
Others highlight the promise of AI while cautioning that many existing KVM solutions provide great efficiencies.
The transition to IP has transformed expectations for KVM systems.”
Catherine Koutsaris, Matrox Video
“Adopting AI capabilities in a KVM network must drive customer value in the first instance,” Adder’s Halksworth says. “Organizations use KVM to access and control critical information, and it’s essential that any development or innovation around AI is reliable and trustworthy. AI has the capability of being very influential going forward, and we have a lot of learning to do to know how to best deploy its abilities. For example, leveraging AI in some way to detect system issues and suggest resolution paths for a user is just one example of implementing AI that adds customer value.”
Similar caution can also be seen with the transition to IP and cloud-based workflows. “There is always a little bit of a trade-off when you make these transitions,” IHSE’s Hempel explained. “There are people who’ve made up their mind and just state they want to go IP, without really knowing what the impact is. Personally, I would like to see more customers … making a decision based on what suits their requirements best. … Depending upon their needs, it can be an IP system, a proprietary system or a mix of both.”
