Jungels solos to final stage victory at Tour of Austria

Bob Jungels won the fifth and final stage of the Tour of Austria, making the race’s history with the longest solo victory.

Jungels attacked solo from the break with 40km to go, and was able to cross the line with his arms aloft a minute and 45 seconds ahead of the peloton.

AJ August came home in 12th place to secure fifth on the GC after two podiums earlier in the Tour.

Another mountainous day saw Jungels make the break up the HC climb, the Furkajoch, with 130km to go. Working with three others, the rider from Luxembourg gained a three minute 30 second advantage, before taking matters into his own hands.

Going up the final categorised climb of the day at the 75km mark, Jungels pushed on the pace at the front, with only Luca Vergallito (Alpecin – Deceuninck) able to stick with him.

With 40km to go, Jungels attacked hard and dropped Vergallito in a last gasp effort. Emulating his national time trial winning efforts, Jungels took it all the way to the line, with the peloton unable to close the gap, and secured his second win for the Grenadiers.

  • German sensation Grunwald grabs FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy in Croatia

German shooting star Hannah Grunwald sensationally saw off reigning champion Celina Liebmann to win the FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy in Croatia on Saturday.

The world’s biggest all-female speedway event in Donji Kraljevec was the culmination of a two-day FIM Women’s Speedway Academy, which saw riders hone their skills with expert coaching from four-time Speedway GP world champion Greg Hancock and British former FIM Long Track team world champion Glen Phillips on Thursday and Friday.

The result was a hugely competitive event, which saw Grunwald and her fellow German star Liebmann both qualify for the final unbeaten with 12 points from four rides.

While former SGP2 star Liebmann was hotly tipped for victory, 17-year-old Grunwald made a sublime start to take an unforgettable win, with Liebmann producing a fine ride to pass compatriot Jenny Apfelbeck for second as Germany claimed all three spots on the podium. Danish rider Louise Funch Larsen finished fourth.

Grunwald’s victory earns her a trip to the OlyBet FIM Speedway GP of Latvia – Riga on August 2courtesy of FIM Speedway global promoter Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, where she will play a key role in the event and celebrate alongside the best riders in the world.

Reflecting on her triumph in Croatia, Grunwald said: “It was a great day, and I am so happy. The two days of the academy and the Gold Trophy were great fun. I really, really learned a lot. They were two hard days. But it was a great academy, and I met a lot of great people.”

Grunwald was delighted to lead an all-German podium. She said: “We have a lot of good women in Germany. Celina is very good, and I am as well. I’m so happy with this win.”

Liebmann has been battling with a hip injury in recent months, only making her track return this week. She was pleased to race her way to the silver medal – adding to her historic victory at the inaugural Gold Trophy in Teterow, Germany last season.

She said: “I am still vice world champion. Of course, I wanted to defend my title, but I also didn’t want to put myself in the position where I said, ‘I will win.’ I am injured and I didn’t race for two and a half months. Hannah did, and she did really well.

“I have had a really bad cold for a few days, so for me, this is still a good result. You can’t always be first. This year it is second place, and next year, it’s a new chance and a new race.”

There is no doubt that the standard of the sport’s female stars has again increased significantly since the 2024 competition in Teterow, and Liebmann would love to see the Gold Trophy upgraded to full world-championship status.

She said: “I think we are getting closer. I think everyone sees now that the girls are really fast. It’s not just one or two girls who are fast; there are a few girls who are really fast. They have learned and continued to learn and get better. I think there is a good chance for it to be a World Championship next year. We have the numbers.”

Third-placed Apfelbeck won the last-chance qualifier to take her place in the final and was pleased to complete the top three.

She said: “I am feeling really great. My team and I worked really hard, and it was awesome. I learned a few new things at the academy, and it was amazing to have three German riders on the podium. We have a lot of races in Germany and that clearly helps us.”

While 13 riders took part in the 500cc FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy, which was open to riders aged 16 or over, four young stars also competed in the Youth Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy of Croatia for 250cc riders under 16.

The class was won by British sensation Demi Blu Harris, with the 14-year-old, who trains regularly at Ipswich, roaring to a 12-point maximum.

“I am really happy,” she said. “It’s probably the best thing I have ever done. I think I have got faster as the days have gone on. I was just enjoying myself out there. Hopefully I can come back next year.”

American legend Hancock was elated with the progress his students made over an intense two days of training at the FIM Women’s Speedway Academy, and paid tribute to winner Grunwald. He said: “Hannah has shown so much improvement and determination over the last year. You could see that she wanted this.

“Every race she did was like a rinse and repeat. She didn’t make a mistake, and she rode the same lines. I noticed she shut the throttle off at the same time at the finish line. She had played this over and over in her head. Then she did what she came here to do.

“The event was really exciting to watch. You wouldn’t know if we were looking at women or men on the track in some cases. Some of those races were insane.

“You can still see there is a gap in the level overall, but this gap is starting to get closer and closer, and the racing was awesome. Every single one of them has made improvements. You noticed it when they went to the tapes. All of those improvements were amplified because of the adrenaline. They have all raised their level.

“It was great to be here. It was awesome to see the enthusiasm and the growth. These girls are showing they want a league of their own and they want to have titles. They are driven just as much as anyone else.”

The FIM Women’s Speedway event was organised in partnership between the FIM Track Racing Commission (CCP) and the FIM Women’s Commission (CFM). FIM Track Racing Commission director Armando Castagna is pleased to see the sport’s female stars raise the bar again.

He said: “It was extremely positive; the level is much higher than it was last year, and everything went really well. I am really happy. The support we were given by our experts like Greg and Glen was great, as well as the support we got from WBD Sports and the CFM. I am really happy, and I hope we can continue this in the future.

“We now have a decent line-up. I am really happy about it and I hope for the future that we can continue to improve this.”

  • PTI launches 90-day ‘do or die’ movement, demands dialogue with ‘decision-makers’ – Pakistan

PTI launches 90-day ‘do or die’ movement, demands dialogue with ‘decision-makers’ – Pakistan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a 90-day “do or die” movement in a bid to secure release of its party founder Imran Khan and achieve other “political goals”, while demanding to hold dialogue with the “decision-makers”.

PTI senior leaders, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, stated this while addressing a press conference in Lahore on Sunday, outlining the party’s future strategy amidst the current political situation.

Chief Minister Gandapur announced that the party’s high-level meeting had finalised the future course of action, and a movement is formally being launched, which will peak on August 5. He asserted that only the PTI founder has led a true movement in Pakistan, consistently advocating for the supremacy of the constitution and law.

Gandapur stated that the cases against the PTI founder are baseless and that no political party in any democracy has been treated as the PTI has been.

He maintained that despite “fascism,” PTI could not be eradicated. “We will gather people from every street, corner, and town,” Gandapur stated. “We are asked where we want to take the country? We say we want to lead the country on the path of law.”

The PTI leader further claimed that their peaceful political movement is being suppressed by force, and they are being prevented from exercising their constitutional right to protest. He reiterated that the PTI founder has always been willing to negotiate in Pakistan’s interest and still maintains that discussions should be held with those who have the authority to make decisions.

To a query about whether the PTI would hold a dialogue with the establishment or politicians, Gandapur stated that the decision rests with Imran Khan, noting that the PTI founder has previously expressed that talks must be held with the “decision-makers” but that there was no objection to government officials being included in the process.

The KP chief minister asked “those who are the beneficiaries of this system and those who have hijacked it” to engage in talks, emphasising that they are “answerable”.

Gandapur stated that the PTI founder will personally lead this movement, which has now officially commenced. He affirmed that the 90-day political movement began last night. This movement would be “do or die”, he added.

The PTI leader dismissed the claims that PTI considers itself answerable to no one as “absolutely false.” “You will have to answer to the public,” he stated. “If a conspiracy against us is proven, then hang me in the square, but if it comes to punishment, then everyone should be punished.”

He asserted that during the PTI founder’s tenure, terrorism was brought under control, peace was established, and the country’s economy improved. Criticising the current government, he accused them of targeting political workers. However, he said, that their political opponents would run away when the time comes.

Gandapur said that the PTI founder would engage in dialogue with the forces that hold real power. “We have never had, nor will we have, secret meetings. Our movement is clear, public, and within the constitutional framework. We will talk to decision-makers transparently, because Pakistan cannot be kept in darkness any longer,” he said.

He said: “We do not want the future of this country’s children to be in slavery. If you want a future of freedom, sovereignty, and dignity for your children, then become a part of this movement.”

Gandapur further clarified that August 5 is not a deadline but will mark the peak of the movement. He claimed that the government has filed dozens of cases against them but has achieved nothing. “We have always adopted a constitutional path. Protesting on the streets is my legal and democratic right, which no power can snatch from me,” he maintained.

He claimed that the solution to the current political and economic crisis lies solely in transparent elections and constitutional supremacy, and for this, PTI’s movement has entered a decisive phase.

PTI leaders Salman Akram Raja and Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar also addressed the press conference, criticising the government and reiterating their resolve to intensify the movement for the party chairman’s release.

Raja stated that they would not let anyone forget the February 8 elections and demanded respect for the public’s vote.

He stated that the entire nation and party are united for the release of the PTI founder. He asserted that the gathering of party leaders and workers in Lahore is a proof that they are united for their party’s founder.

Mason, who features in the documentary, hopes the film will make others “feel comfortable in themselves”

Film-makers have praised the bravery of the trans community in Cumbria for sharing their experiences in a new documentary.

I ME US chronicles the stories of those living in the county who are transgender, non-binary or gender non-conforming.

Mason, who features in the film, which is being screened locally in July and August, described how his family struggled with his decision to transition only for his brother to then offer him some shirts in support.

“If just one person can see the film and feel more comfortable, or happy in themselves, then I’ve done enough,” he said.

Producer Debbie Sweeney, from Carlisle-based Eden Film, said there was “a lot of prejudice” which made it difficult for some people to “fit in”, adding that Cumbria has “a lot of keyboard warriors”.

Mrs Sweeney, who previously worked as a college lecturer, said she found that LGBTQ+ students would often want to move to bigger cities because they could find a “sense of belonging” there, and not feel so visible.

“Somewhere like Cumbria, there’s a lot of prejudice and they maybe find it hard to fit in, so it’s nice that we can produce a film like this,” she said.

    ‘Emotional film’

Director Paddy Sweeney said those who took part had been brave to tell their stories on camera so candidly.

He said they had filmed with someone who then called to drop out of the project around the time of President Trump’s inauguration.

Mr Sweeney said the participant was worried about “having their face out there”, and the repercussions it may have for his job.

The film is part of a heritage lottery-funded project, which was commissioned by Pride in North Cumbria (PINC) LGBT+ Youth.

It is being screened for free in venues across Cumbria over July and August, including Rheged cinema in Penrith and Tullie in Carlisle.

Producer and project manager at PINC, Pam Eland, said they wanted to take a snapshot of community “to get their voices heard out there”.

She added they were looking to organise showings of the “emotional” film worldwide.

Copper Golem in Minecraft: Uses, crafting recipe, features, and more | Esports News

Minecraft has recently announced their new Fall Drop 3 2025, where now players can craft many more things with copper, like tools, armor, golems, and many more. The new update is limited to Bedrock and will not be featured in Java Edition. The copper golem is now available in the experimental version of Minecraft Bedrock Edition, where players can try out the new copper golem. This article outlines a complete guide on the Copper Golem, how players can craft it, its uses, features, and more information that will help players have a better understanding of the new mob.

Ultimate Copper Golem guide for Minecraft

Currently the Copper Golem is only available as an experimental feature in the game on the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft, which means players cannot experience it in the default version of the game. Copper Golem will be released as part of the third game drop in 2025, an upcoming update that is purely focused on copper.

Copper Golems do not spawn naturally like Iron Golems do in Minecraft; players have to craft one in order to obtain it. To craft a Copper Golem, players first need to mine copper blocks with a stone pickaxe. The easiest way to find copper veins is to search open caves. Copper veins are very easily found in the game, and they look like grey stones with orange and greenish specks.Players need at least nine raw copper pieces to make one copper block, but before that, players have to smelt this raw copper in a furnace, which will convert them into ingots. Placing 9 ingots in the crafting table will give one copper block. Then players need one carved pumpkin, which they can locate in the wilds, usually found in the grassy biome.Once you find a pumpkin block, use the shears to turn it into a carved pumpkin. Then place the Copper Block below and the Carved Pumpkin above it, which will spawn a Copper Golem. If you notice, doing so will not only spawn a Copper Golem, but also the Copper Block will transform into a Copper Chest. This Copper Chest is linked with the Copper Golem’s Task.

    Uses of Copper Golem

How to use Copper Golem in Minecraf

Copper Golem is a peaceful mob that helps players automatically store and sort items. Yes, you heard it right. The copper golem functions as a little housekeeper in Minecraft. When players drop any item in the Copper Chest beside the Copper Golem, the mob picks up the item from the copper chest and transfers it into the strong wooden chest. The golem will find a chest that has the similar item and transfer it there; if not found, then it will drop the item into a new chest. The golem can pick 16 stacks at once and sort them.

How to change Copper Golem’s color

As we know, an unwaxed copper item over time will oxidize and turn into a green-blueish color. Similarly, an unwaxed Copper Golem will turn into a green-blueish color over time. If you want your golem to stay reddish-brown, then you can use honeycomb on the golem, which will not let it oxidize.Through the above guide, players can now craft their own Copper Golem and take advantage of its ability to store and sort items.

  • Brazil ruins Chiba epilog for Japan with speedy sweep

“It was a crazy match! It’s super difficult to play against Japan. We have a joke among us that whenever we have to play against Japan, we have to take three or four coffees before that to have some extra caffeine, some extra energy. We need to attack one, two, three times to finish a rally,” Gabi told VBTV. “But it was an important victory. We knew that it would not be easy to play here in Japan, but you could see how the team performed with aggressiveness, having a lot of patience… We did not make many mistakes. Our block-defense system was working well, especially on serve, and, in attack, Roberta could use everyone who played today.

“This is what we need – the team performing well makes it much easier for us. Now we need to rest a little bit – we’ve had a tough week – and prepare for the Finals. At the Finals, we need to be really aggressive from the start. We don’t know whom we are going to play in the quarterfinals, but for sure, it is going to be pretty difficult.”

  • Vegan diets help most people lose weight and control diabetes

Vegan diets help most people lose weight and control diabetes

A short twelve‑week trial shows that adults with type 1 diabetes who replaced every animal food with plant‑based diet lost weight and improved insulin sensitivity.

“Choosing a veggie burger instead of a cheeseburger, and other plant‑based dietary swaps, can help people with type 1 diabetes who want to lose weight and improve how their body responds to insulin,” noted Hana Kahleova, MD, PhD, director of clinical research at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Why diet still matters in type 1 diabetes

Most people with type 1 diabetes rely on insulin injections, pumps, or pens to cover every meal. Food choice can lighten that burden by lowering the amount of insulin the body needs, trimming both cost and daily hassle.

Fifty‑eight adults were randomly assigned to either an unrestricted low‑fat vegan menu or a portion‑controlled omnivorous plan for three months. Participants logged every bite in a nutrition app while keeping exercise and medication routines unchanged.

Five ounces of animal protein dropped from the average vegan plate each day, replaced mostly by fruits, vegetables, beans, and grain dishes.

The researchers tracked body weight, meal insulin doses, and the carbohydrate‑to‑insulin ratio, a practical bedside marker of insulin action.

    Removing meat matters most

Each recorded food was slotted into the four‑tier NOVA system, a common way to grade processing from raw produce (category 1) to ultra‑processed snacks (category 4).

Contrary to popular belief, the vegan group did not slash category 4 items; cereal, plant milks, and meat substitutes stayed about the same.

Instead, the key shift was the near elimination of animal foods in every NOVA bracket. Plant foods in category 1 rose by roughly three‑quarters of a pound a day, filling the gap left by meat and dairy.

    Vegan group lost weight

On average the vegan arm shed 11 pounds, while the portion‑controlled group’s weight barely budged. Statistical modeling showed that every five‑ounce cut of unprocessed animal food predicted a two‑pound drop on the scale.

That weight loss happened with no calorie counting or carbohydrate limits, underscoring the natural energy density advantage of low‑fat plant meals.

Earlier work in overweight adults also found a spontaneous rise in post‑meal calorie burn on a similar diet, boosting “after‑dinner” metabolism by 14 percent.

    Plant diet improved diabetes care

The carbohydrate‑to‑insulin ratio climbed by six points in the vegan group, meaning muscles pulled more glucose from the blood with less injected hormone. Clinical teams often view a shift that large as a meaningful reduction in daily insulin need.

“Replacing all animal products with plant‑based foods, whether unprocessed fruits and veggies or ultra‑processed cereal, plant milks, and meat alternatives, is the key to success,” stressed Dr. Kahleova. Lower doses cut the risk of hypoglycemia and may simplify dosing around exercise or illness.

Less meat in diet helped in diabetes

The drop in weight and boost in insulin response wasn’t tied to a total ban on processed food. It was directly linked to removing animal products, especially unprocessed ones like chicken breast, eggs, and plain yogurt.

Each five-ounce reduction in animal-based NOVA category 1 foods led to about two pounds lost and improved glucose use in muscles. That’s surprising, given how often these foods are promoted as part of a healthy diet.

    Processed foods and diabetes diet

Observational studies link high intake of packaged pastries and processed meats to type 2 diabetes, yet those analyses do not separate plant from animal sources.

A 2023 three‑cohort review found that ultra‑processed breads and cereals carried a lower diabetes risk than bacon or sugar‑sweetened drinks.

The present trial supports that nuance, hinting that origin may matter more than factory steps. Many plant‑based meat analogs supply similar protein to chicken but with zero cholesterol and far less saturated fat.

    More proof needed

Self‑reported food logs can misjudge portion size, and continuous glucose monitors were optional, limiting precision.

Roughly one‑third of volunteers dropped out, a reminder that tracking every meal for months is tough in real life.

The sample was small, urban, and highly motivated, so results may not copy‑paste to teenagers or adults with less nutrition support.

Longer trials are needed to confirm whether weight and insulin gains hold beyond the twelve‑week mark.

For now the takeaway is simple: a full plant swap, even with convenience foods, trims weight and boosts insulin action in adults living with type 1 diabetes.

The study is published in Nutrition, Metabolism & Cardiovascular Diseases.

  • These 2 AI Chip Stocks Will Outperform Nvidia Over the Next 5 Years

These 2 AI Chip Stocks Will Outperform Nvidia Over the Next 5 Years

    • Nvidia is the dominant player in AI infrastructure, but its size could limit some of its upside.

    • AMD and Broadcom, meanwhile, have huge opportunities.

    • Given their smaller sizes, the stocks have the potential to outperform Nvidia in the coming years.

    • 10 stocks we like better than Advanced Micro Devices ›

Nvidia is the undisputed king of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. The company has a dominant share in the graphics processing unit (GPU) market, where its chips provide the processing power necessary to run AI workloads. Its CUDA software platform has helped create a wide moat, giving the company over 90% market share in the GPU space.

That said, Nvidia has become a mammoth company, recently hitting a $4 trillion market cap. As such, it now faces the law of large numbers. It can keep growing, but it will get more difficult to keep up the same pace.

That’s why the stocks of Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) and Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) could outperform the GPU leader over the next five years. Both have smaller revenue bases to work from and big potential tailwinds.

AMD, as the company is also known, has been seeing strong revenue growth, but its AI opportunity could just be getting started. While it’s still a distant second to Nvidia in GPUs, it has been able to carve out a niche in AI inference.

On its last earnings call, AMD said that one of the largest AI model companies in the world is using its GPUs to run a significant chunk of its daily inference workloads. Major cloud providers have been using its chips to run search, recommendation engines, and generative AI tasks. The company’s ROCm software platform still trails CUDA, but it’s generally considered good enough when it comes to inference.

The reason the stock can outperform, though, largely comes down to size. Nvidia’s data center revenue hit $39.1 billion last quarter, while AMD’s was just $3.7 billion. It doesn’t have to take massive share from the leader to see explosive growth, as even modest wins can make a big impact.

AMD is also a leader in data center central processing units (CPUs), where it has gained meaningful share against Intel. CPUs act as the brains of the operation, so as AI workloads expand, demand for high-performance CPUs will also grow.

Meanwhile, the UALink Consortium which was formed by AMD, Intel, Broadcom, and others, is looking to challenge Nvidia’s NVLink and its proprietary interconnects. It wants to develop an open standard for high-speed, low-latency interconnects for AI accelerators in data centers. If successful, it could erode one of Nvidia’s biggest advantages and open the door for companies to use clusters of multiple vendors. That would be huge for AMD.
