Woof has launched HonestChew, a plant-based dog chew designed to address safety concerns associated with traditional bone and synthetic chew products. The product combines food-grade plant materials, powdered antler bone and vegetable broth in a formulation that flakes rather than splinters during use.
The chew targets what the company identifies as a common industry challenge: providing durable chewing products without relying on synthetic materials or creating choking hazards. HonestChew contains no nylon, petroleum, plastic or rawhide, and is formulated to be hypoallergenic.
“We created HonestChew to give pet parents a better alternative – one that doesn’t force them to choose between safety, durability, or natural materials,” said Daniel Haarburger, founder of Woof. “Too many chews on the market are made from synthetic, petroleum-based materials. In fact, we found that 83% of dog parents admit to giving their dogs inedible chew toys, often without realizing the potential risks. HonestChew is our answer to that tradeoff: we’re proud to introduce this game-changing product that raises the bar on safety, durability, and design for the entire chew category.”
According to Woof, the company’s product development team spent over a year developing the formulation, focusing on creating an alternative to both synthetic materials and traditional bones that can splinter.
The product is positioned for moderate to powerful chewers and incorporates design features intended to provide behavioral enrichment through natural chewing instincts while offering mental stimulation. The chew’s surface texture includes nubs and ridges designed to help remove tartar and buildup above the gumline, though the company notes it is not intended as a replacement for regular dental care.
HonestChew features a curved shape with paw-grip design elements intended to promote natural chewing postures and extended engagement periods. The product is available in two shapes — Infinity Bone and Antler — across three size categories: small for dogs under 25 pounds, medium for dogs 30-60 pounds, and large for dogs over 60 pounds.
