Bollywood Film ‘Love in Vietnam’ Lands China Distribution Deal

Zee Studios‘ upcoming Bollywood romantic drama “Love in Vietnam” has secured a 10,000-screen theatrical release in China, with Shanghai YC Media and Film acquiring distribution rights for a Christmas 2025 rollout.

The Rahhat Shah Kazmi-directed musical love saga, starring Shantanu Maheshwari, Avneet Kaur, Vietnamese actor Kha Gnan, and Bollywood veterans Farida Jalal, Raj Babbar, and Gulshan Grover, is set for its Indian theatrical release on Sept. 12.

Shot across locations in Vietnam and Punjab, India, “Love in Vietnam” is a rare cinematic collaboration between India and Vietnam.

The film is produced by Captain Rahul Bali, Blue Lotus Pictures, Innovations India, Rahat Kazmi Film Studios, And Productions, Zebaish Entertainment, Tariq Khan Productions, Mango Tree Entertainment, and Samten Hills, Dalat.

“‘Love in Vietnam’ has been a dream project. We have put our heart and soul into this film, and it is truly a matter of pride as we have created history by acquiring 10,000 screens in China even before our India release,” said director Kazmi.

Umesh Kumar Bansal, CBO of Zee Studios, added: “‘Love in Vietnam’ is a touching love story and a film that we truly believe in. Love is something that transcends across countries and continents and ‘Love in Vietnam’ perfectly does that. The film shall release in China across 10,000 screens during Christmas 2025 which is historic.”

Jessica Zhen, partner in the international film distribution division at Shanghai YC Media & Film, cited the story’s inspiration from bestseller “Madonna in a Fur Coat” and the Vietnam-India collaboration as initial draws. “When our team watched the film’s rough cut, we became so attached to it. It is not just a film, but a journey of emotions that touches your heart, irrespective of language and cultural barriers,” Zhen said.

Girish Johar, head of distribution and revenues at Zee Studios, added: “‘Love in Vietnam’ is such an indigenous story with an international touch. We strongly believe it is a story that will touch & resonate audiences across the globe, and with this historic acquisition, we aim to reach Bollywood movie fanatics in China as well.”
