IARC marks World Cancer Research Day 2025 – IARC

24 Septembre 2025

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is marking World Cancer Research Day (24 September). This year’s campaign acknowledges the full range of people involved in the research pathway, under the theme “Cancer research needs us all”, which celebrates and highlights the different roles played by patients, researchers, health-care professionals, and the wider community.

IARC scientists focus on cancer research for cancer prevention, as they have since the Agency was established in 1965. IARC engages with partners around the world to discover the causes of cancer, develop screening and early detection programmes, and provide policy-makers with the evidence they need to improve the health of the people they represent.

Cancer is a shared global challenge. It is one of the leading causes of death worldwide and has enormous economic and social costs. IARC’s role in promoting international collaboration in cancer research is perhaps more critical now than it ever has been, in the face of a growing cancer burden and reduced health-care and research resources to tackle it.
