Tailored mental health interventions, in addition to socioeconomic support, are potential avenues for boosting parental resilience and reducing familial stress among parents of children diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), according to results from a recent study.
Gözde Önal, PhD, and Meral Huri, PhD, of Ankara Medipol University in Turkey, conducted the study and published their findings in the Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nursing.
As one of the most common types of childhood cancer, ALL can put significant emotional, physical, and mental stress on families, which can have a negative impact on parental resilience, “which is crucial in maintaining family functioning and supporting the child’s needs during diagnosis and treatment.”
