What happens in the Mortal Kombat 2 teaser trailer?

While a full Mortal Kombat trailer will be released soon, the short teaser released by Warner Bros. Pictures sees Urban’s Cage character starring in an ‘Uncaged Fury’ movie. He beats up a small army of bad guys only after they “f—ed with his shades.”

For context, in the world of Mortal Kombat, Cage is an American action film star with a martial arts background. McQuoid previously told Variety that Johnny Cage was not in the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie because “he’s such a giant personality that he almost has his own gravitational field.”

The cast of Mortal Kombat 2 also includes Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Briggs, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion, Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, and more.

Official plot details for the film remain under wraps at this time.

Mortal Kombat II will be released in United States theaters on October 24, 2025. The 2021 Mortal Kombat, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on HBO Max.

“Hunted by the fearsome warrior Sub-Zero, MMA fighter Cole Young finds sanctuary at the temple of Lord Raiden,” the synopsis for that movie reads. “Training with experienced fighters Liu Kang, Kung Lao and the rogue mercenary Kano, Cole prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions to take on the enemies from Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the universe.”
