ZIEGLER meets FeuerKrebs to discuss firefighter health and decontamination
Albert Ziegler GmbH has reported that it met with FeuerKrebs gUG in Hamburg to discuss firefighter health protection and occupational cancer prevention.
The company confirmed that the meeting included an exchange of practical measures to reduce health risks for emergency responders.
ZIEGLER said it donated €1,000 to FeuerKrebs to support its work in prevention, education and assistance for firefighters affected by occupational cancer.
During the session, both organisations reviewed hygiene and decontamination options for firefighting vehicles.
ZIEGLER added that both parties aim to implement protective strategies that begin before deployment and continue throughout day-to-day activities.
FeuerKrebs outlines its work on occupational cancer prevention
FeuerKrebs gUG is a non-profit organisation based in Germany, focused on the prevention and management of occupational cancer among firefighters.
The group provides education on long-term health risks linked to exposure during operations, and offers direct support for affected personnel.
ZIEGLER said the Hamburg meeting included a presentation from FeuerKrebs on its programmes and outreach strategies.
The discussion also included mutual assessments of current hygiene practices and areas where vehicle design or station protocols could reduce exposure.
Both parties agreed that a holistic approach to health protection is required, extending beyond the fire scene.
Hygiene and vehicle-based solutions discussed
ZIEGLER presented its existing vehicle-integrated hygiene and decontamination systems during the meeting.
The company said its product teams demonstrated how interior layouts and materials can be adapted to improve post-incident safety.
The firm reported that potential system enhancements and future collaboration were considered during the exchange.
Design considerations for improving contaminant separation and on-site clean-up were highlighted.
ZIEGLER confirmed it would continue to develop equipment to support safer working conditions for firefighters.
Shared goals of health and safety integration
FeuerKrebs Managing Director Marcus Bätge said: “The exchange was extremely valuable for both sides.
“We share the common goal of protecting emergency services in a holistic way.
“It applies not only during operations, but also in everyday life and during exercises.”
ZIEGLER said this view was shared across the meeting, with emphasis placed on station environments and training conditions.
The company noted that protective measures must be built into all aspects of a firefighter’s work.
FeuerKrebs and ZIEGLER stated their intention to continue working together to advance this objective.
