Álvaro Morata set to join Cesc Fabregas at Como – sources

Forward Álvaro Morata is set to join Serie A’s Como, sources have told ESPN.

It’s the latest move for the Spain international, 32, after spending six months at Galatasaray.

Morata left Atlético Madrid for AC Milan last summer, but after a change of coach saw him surplus to requirements, he joined Galatasaray on loan in February.

The forward will now join coach Cesc Fabregas at Como, who finished 10th on their return to Italy’s top flight last season.

Como already have a number of Spanish players in their squad, including latest arrival Jesús Rodriguez, a winger signed from Real Betis.

Como will be Morata’s seventh club at senior level, in a career which has seen him frequently change teams.

The forward came through Real Madrid’s academy before a spell at Juventus, a return to Madrid, a move to Chelsea and then Atlético Madrid, followed by another loan at Juventus, last summer’s switch to Milan and then Galatasaray.

Morata admitted earlier this year that he regretted leaving Atlético for Milan last summer.

He has spoken publicly about the mental health challenges he has faced during his career, revealing he came close to quitting the Spain national team — before captaining them to victory at Euro 2024 — after suffering depression and panic attacks.
