India will field a 12-member squad for the Asian Surfing Championships 2025. They will compete across four categories – men’s open, women’s open, men’s under-18, and women’s under-18.
Reigning women’s senior national champion Kamali Moorthy is also in the fray.
India’s squad for Asian Surfing Championships 2025

- Women’s open: Kamali Moorthy, Shrishti Selvam, Sugar Shanti Banarse
- Men’s under-18: Tayin Arun, Harish P, Prahlad Sriram

Over 150 surfers from 20 countries will compete in Mahabalipuram.

The event will mirror international surfing formats, starting with seeding rounds where the top two from each heat progress directly to the main draw, while the rest get another shot through repechage heats.
Action will then move through quarter-finals, semi-finals and culminate in a four-surfer final. The men’s and women’s champions will also earn direct entry to the SurfCity El Salvador ALAS Global Finals in November.
Surfing made its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 with two medal events – men’s shortboard and women’s shortboard. The same events were part of the Paris 2024 Olympics as well.
