Christian Haslinger, MD, University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland
Dr Christian Haslinger, Prof, MD, is a Professor and Senior Attending Obstetrician specialist of feto-maternal medicine at the University Hospital Zurich, Department of Obstetrics. His research focus lies on postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), with his main topics of interest being, coagulation factor XIII and vacuum-induced tamponade for the treatment of uterine atony. He is a Sponsor-PI of the SWIFT-Trial (SWIss Factor XIII Trial), a Swiss National Science Foundation funded multi-center, investigator-initiated, interventional trial in Switzerland exploring the effect of early FXIII administration in women with postpartum hemorrhage. As a sponsor investigator, he has led various research projects on PPH, including intervention studies on the use of carbetocin versus oxytocin in cesarean sections and currently a pilot study on the use of urological catheters for vacuum-induced uterine tamponade.
He is an Editorial Board Member of BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth and Die Gynäkologie (CME-certified medical education section). He works as a reviewer for all renowned journals in the field of obstetrics, particularly in the area of PPH. Prof Haslinger is a member of the Swiss Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, the Swiss Academy of feto-maternal Medicine, the German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and the Working Group for Obstetrics and Prenatal Medicine in the German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics (Classical Obstetrics Section).
Wolfgang Korte, MD, Centre for Laboratory Medicine St. Gallen, Switzerland
Dr Wofgang Korte is board certified in Hematology, Internal Medicine and Laboratory Medicine. After a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology in Denver, Colorado, he was appointed Lecturer in Hematology and later Professor of Medicine at the University of Bern. From 2012 to 2025, he was Medical Director and CEO of the Centre for Laboratory Medicine (ZLM), Hematology Clinic and the Center for Hemostasis and Hemophilia St. Gallen, which he founded – as well as the meeting on “Hemostasis in Critical Care – HICC” on a yearly basis. Dr Korte is now a Senior Consultant at the ZLM and guest researcher at Empa – Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Science and Technology in St. Gallen. He is a full member of various societies, including SGH, FAMH, GTH, ISTH and ASH. Dr Korte’s interest is in perioperative and periinterventional coagulation management and research, classical hematology and the use of automation, robotics and AI in clinical work and the laboratory. He has been involved in research on F XIII for many years and is currently part of the steering committee of the SWIFT study in Switzerland.
Karin van Galen, MD, PhD, MSc, University Medical Center Utrecht, The Netherlands
Dr Karin van Galen has worked as a Consultant Hematologist at the Van Creveldkliniek, UMC Utrecht since 2011, specializing in benign hematologic conditions with a focus on coagulation disorders. She completed her PhD on joint bleeding in Von Willebrand disease and is involved in international research on inherited bleeding disorders. Her current work includes postdoctoral research on pregnancy and heavy menstrual bleeding in these patients. Dr van Galen cosupervises PhD students and is a leading advocate for women and girls with inherited bleeding disorders, both nationally and internationally.
